Much like... well every other bloody player... we need to get 50 games into him.
Jeez, looking back, Macca, Sloane, Voldemort - big, big crows names - still had to get that under the belt before they kicked arse.
On the current list - Rat, Harto, Laird, Jenkins (probs hampton too) same deal.
It's a blessing when players can actually perform and dominate so early. I really only remember... Hart & Roo. Even then, they weren't total machines until after that period.
Be at peace.
A firmly held opinion based on a small data set ....... the certainty of an idiot.

Fair enough too - we have coaches and post game analysis for a reason. If they are NOT having these discussions with him... they are not doing the most basic part of their job, which is giving feedback. The criticism he is receiving isn't about domination of games though, it's about intensity at the contest and the player. Only one of those players you mention above has a similar disposition and despite what he brings to the team, still receives plenty of criticism for this ever so frustrating trait.
I don't believe that he should be dropped, but I do believe he needs some things pointed out to him.
Finals are high physicality, high pressure moments and if you don't start practicing that aspect of the game during the minor rounds I can't see you suddenly switching it on under finals pressure.
I find the criticism of this kid difficult to stomach. He doesn't shy away from contact, that is an absurd view. But what really shits me is that we've been complaining for years about lack of outside weapons and all our players getting sucked into the contest and a kid comes along and averages Dmac lifetime possession numbers in his second season and we want to pick on him. He's played less than fifteen games, FFS, get a grip.
His disposal isn't appreciated enough here. Elite kick. Was really solid today. Thought his 3rd qtr was great. His skills are fantastic

That's odd, the AFL app had Milera with 5 score involvements and Mackay 0 inside 50s.Weird thing is I thought he was doing ok in the first quarter and a bit against Melbourne. Seemed to be involved more - trying to get the ball given it was so bottled up. Hard to judge a kid in a game where so many "leaders" failed to do so. But was annoying because during that first quarter I was thinking, ok... this could be a game where he gets a stack of touches. He ended up with 20 touches, but as Inside Footy put it "Plenty of outside run but none of it was damaging."
Mind you that is a tad better than their on the mark assessment of Mackay "Unsighted for the majority of the game, did provide three inside-50’s."
The AFL site has him with 3.That's odd, the AFL app had Milera with 5 score involvements and Mackay 0 inside 50s.
Good to see the AFLs sending out consistent info, what a joke. The AFL site has him with 3.
