I just don’t get it - three years is way overs.

I sincerely hope there are triggers - minimum no of games etc.
There better be triggers for 3rd year & better be not a big salary... otherwise it's bloody madness.

This strongly reminds me of the David Mackay 4 year contract

A player who is a fringe type, should be eyeing to replace, but just doing enough in the eye of coaches to play every game. Somehow gets an unnecessarily long contract, then plays years of mediocre football clogging up a valuable spot in the 22

Just baffling

He's playing... okay I guess. I'd be happy to reach the back end of the season and then extend him by a couple of years, all being well.

Why so early?
A player who's had significant injury trouble
And why three years? The five year contract felt about a decade long with one decent season to show for it.

It doesn't exactly scream "ruthless"

Most of our other recent list management decisions have been good. Our list is building nicely. This is a regression.

Yeah I don’t get it. Unless it helps get NWM across, of course

Wild that Crows Twitter thinks it’s a great move, usually they’re more in line with BF than Reddit

Reid once again gives an underperforming senior player another deal worth too much.

Yeah, he's done well at the trade table since Gibbs, but this shit is his big downfall.
This would be coming from the coaching group too, but I think they are VERY hesitant for our list demographic to go backwards again as they believe the way forward is to keep our experience level at a certain rate.

Now that's fine and all, but it's still staggering that you gave him 5 years where he spent about 4 of those injured/recovering from injury and then you're gonna give him another 3.

They let Doods walk for the same reason, realistically with who we have coming through the SANFL we should have done the same.

Culture to reward average middle to upper age players.

I reckon a heavily games played trigger 1 year + 1 more deal was on the table and those bottom feeder Vic clubs like North and/or Saints have gone and offered him 4 years and the old-Justin Reid ‘avoid bad optics’ personality has reared its head again.

Peter Rohde being his manager probably still has some teal leanings and has leveraged and taken the Crows for a ride twice now, after getting 1 semi decent year out of the last 5 he should be playing for base rates on this deal but won’t be.

I don’t think Just Reid gives 2 shits about optics. Ever heard anyone say that Reid has turned the club around because players are re-signing?

He doesn’t make these decisions, it’s a committee, chaired by Roo and includes Adam Kelly, Nix, Silvets and sadly Balme as well now. Just a terrible call to give a 28 year old fringe player with significant injury history 3 years. Just horrible.

I actually like Milera but surely we should want to see a little bit more from him before committing long term again, after being burnt so badly last time
