He was more than capable of throwing his body in at SANFL level, so the mindset is there somewhere.

Big confidence player. All in the head with Milera. Given some time to develop a bigger body and gain some mental maturity he should click. Will then break lines like a hot knife through butter

He needs a break. His skills and decision making are there... sometimes. Doesn't get enough of it or do enough with it at the moment to earn his spot. Needs a week (or two) off to hit some big numbers in the SANFL before coming back in.

He's not a "non-statistical player"/filling a role that anyone on the outer couldn't do equally well while he grows.

The thing is Milera is not going to be a big possession winner, sending him to the sanfl to achieve that is a pointless exercise.

He is our preferred starting wing, as much as I hang shit on Mackay he doesn't start, he comes on half way through the first and gets more game time as the game goes on.

This tells me we want Milera to be the man but know he's not quite ready, but the long game is a Milera with games under his belt. We gave him 3 years starting his second year because we know.

Put up with the quiet times especially whilst we are winning because it will do us good.

His body language is terrible after a stuff up. Doesn't just drop his head, his shoulders go down as well.

Definitely a confidence player and very young, but I worry about his resilience. He had enough tricks to cruise up to this level, has he got the mental capacity to take it to AFL standard? I'm not sure.

Milera had a good last quarter I thought, when we needed to get back on top of Essendon. Seemed to have a renewed sense of confidence he hadn't had for the last 7 quarters of footy he'd played.

Just needs to work harder around the ground, particularly defensively

Seems to have lost confidence since we picked him up. He was a jet with Centrals and the few times I saw him he had no problem putting his head over the ball and his body on the line. Now he's not doing those things often enough at AFL level. There was one occasion last night where he could have come in from the side and taken front spot and he chose no to. Resulted in a mark and goal to McDonald-Tipunwingi. Think it was 1st q, but might have been 3rd. I need to check the replay to see the angles as maybe he was too far away to influence the contest, but that's what it looked like from side on.
I'd drop him to the 2s to regain confidence. No passengers if we want that premiership.

Yep, and another where he could have closed down Heppell but ran around him as if he was waiting for a handball.

In the last quarter he played the way we want him to play.
Milera, Knight, Douglas and Mackay all got a bit of the ball in the last quarter after pretty forgetable games.

For applying pressure, tackling and doing something else rather than standing off the opposition id have Knight, Douglas and Mackay over Milera without a thought.

In this area Milera is poo, the excuses because he's 19 need to stop.

In the finals game against the Swans we were mauled in this area.

We don't need another spectator on the field.

He didn't play in the Sydney final. Perhaps we need to have a look at some of the players who did play in that final though.

Few would expect Milera to be the finished product instantly.

Don't get me wrong I dont expect him to be the finished product but I aso expect him to apply more pressure than under 12 standard.

He has excellent vision and skill execution, most of the time, but his work rate and attack on the opposition when they have the ball is garbage.

For those calling for Hampton to be replaced...he had 7 tackles. He brings great defensive pressure around the scrums.
Oh, and Rory had 9 to go with 32 disposals. What a champ.
He had 3?

This is why I was disappointed with Hampton's game last night, his tackle numbers were down on what they usually are.

Pressure numbers were still there though (game high 36), so he's at least getting to the spots where he can apply the tackles

Where can I find the pressure numbers ?

He has been huge in this area and I need to quote them

Also averaging 7 tackles a game ( despite just 3 last night )

Re Milera - not sure why so much chat . He's playing like a talented 19 yo with less than 15 games under his belt

Pump the games into him but keep coaching him hard

They're on the AFL app, but I think only if you have a gamepass.

His numbers this year were

VS GWS: 12 pa, 6 tackles (equal 2nd game high for tackles)
VS Haw: 30 pa, 10 tackles (3rd best for Crows in PA, 2nd in game tackles)
VS Port: 29 pa, 9 tackles (2nd best game pa, best Crows pa, equal game high tackles)
VS Ess: 36 pa, 3 tackles (game high pa, 12 more than the best Bomber)

There you go , pretty damning that he's elite defensively as a midfielder

Now for a bunch of supporters that have been rightfully whinging and whining for years re a one way midfield that leaks too many I50s you'd think we'd be pretty excited about what Hampton is doing defensively for us

But apparently we are not !

We have plenty of guys that rack up 25-35 disposals a game, maybe we should celebrate a guy that can average 15-18 possessions a game and be up there with Sloane defensively
