As long as there's no one in the two's banging down the door for a game, Milera stays. Still looks a pinch of the pace but did some really nice things too. It's obvious he's going to a player, unless he has some shockers and needs a confidence restoring run in the SANFL, get the games into him.

I watched the replay and I thought Milera was not bad
Just needs to build on his confidence taking the game on a bit more (last qtr he did it a couple of times). No place better to do this than in the winning AFL side. Not sure hell learn much in the SANFL.

I keep reading about his pace, is he actually quick ?
Not sure on pace, I was more meaning candy selling, he can do that, but at the moment feels like he just wants to handball immediately.

Not sure why people want Milera dropped. I thought he good last night. He's young and he's not going to rack up numbers like Sloane just yet but he has class when he gets his hands on the ball. If we were 0&4 or even 2&2 then maybe it might warrant a change but we're not.....we are 4 and zip and flying. There's no better opportunity than right now to give him game experience. I'm sure P.W. would be saying "we need to get 50 games into him ASAP" as he did with Hartigan. That worked out fairly well didn't it.

Tex most score assists for us with 4

Milera second best with 3. In what wasn't a particularly good game from him. Creativity we've lacked for a long, long time. Exactly the sort of player we need to develop. Needs to do more, hopefully he gets the chance to.

I'm confident given how Pyke invested in Cameron and McGovern last year that he'll keep Milera in.

He averages 1.3 inside 50 a game and 0.3 goal assists per game. But hey, if you wanna deal in fantasy I have some Disney DVDs to sell you
He had the most goal assists - 3, behind Tex last night.

Milera is a player you have confidence will use the ball well when he gets it.

Need to persist with him until he has a few poor games, as will be inconsistent given his inexperience.

Edit - beaten by Drugs Are Bad Mackay?

Not sure what's being posted, but I thought Milera looked pretty good last night. On TV I don't get to see running patterns or work ethic, but I saw him go when he needed to, which was rare. And I saw him hold the ball and show composure that 20 gamers wouldn't normally display when amongst traffic. Anyone calling for his head should start watching another sport. If we're to eventually climb the peak, you won't enjoy the ride.

Dont think he's express, but he certainly is elusive.

Don't think we've even seen this side of him at AFL level yet.

He has that ability to walk past players as if they are standing still.

I agree with some who say he is not quite backing himself in to take the player on yet.

I think he will end up as a high possession player. Will get involved lots of handball chains, will run to receive and provide a kicking option.

Last night he used the ball very efficiently, albeit in a relatively low pressure game. 19 possessions when last year he had 1 game where he got more than 12 possessions. Improving.

However 0 tackles and low pressure acts not great. Had a few opportunities to be more involved defensively which he just skirted around.

I'd like to think he can pick that up at AFL level. He has played 12 games and he is already good at something which gives him a short term pass. But would need to show signs of doing that soon, otherwise it might be something to work on in the SANFL.

Given Don has Milera as our starting wingman and Mackay on the bench tells me Don is a smart man.

He's quick, Betts refers to him and CC in the same breath, but CC is quicker. Kid can go, just need to get it out of him. Wouldn't shelve it after 10 games. Looking really good, we should be really happy.

Assisted in 3, cost us 2. Meh.

He was probably the most substantial acquisition out of the trade/draft period where Dangerfield exited. He's naturally going to cop a lot of attention (Most of which should be on the club instead tbh)

He's also a very outside player, and people don't seem to understand that.

I was wondering that too. After the match they interviewed Betts and asked about Cameron and he said that they try to create space for Cameron to run through, and said something like "nobody can catch him at training... not even Junior can catch him!"

Seemed strange to highlight Milera since he hasn't shown much pace in games, but perhaps in a straight-up sprint he's fast?

Hopefully he adds it to his game because I feel he's just one more weapon away from being a good AFL player.

Yep. I'm Not unhappy with his contributions in general. The net result of that period was very bad imho, but Milera himself is fine.

Nope - neither am I - particularly when I think about the incredible challenges these kids face to step up to AFL - and the disgusting nutbags in the crowd that they can't be immune which other young 'uns don't have to put up with. Quite a test for a teenager/young adult.

On Crowcast, I think it was Scorpus who mentioned the idea of giving Wayne a planned one-year spell in the twos with certain KPIs to work on. Not a bad idea at all.

Can't build a football career (or any career in the world for that matter) on talent alone.

Nope that wasn't me. I think he should be playing as much AFL as possible and working on KPIs in an AFL environment.

Only if he isn't improving and working on issues should he be demoted

1 year spell? That isn't going to help him.

We need to persist playing Milera in blocks of games, then if he struggles for a few, drop him to work on his game, then bring him back.

He is only young, so will be inconsistent. The sooner we get him to 50 games, the sooner we will really reap the benefits.

It's a misconception that players will be better in the reserves or get better on certain KPIs. The reality is the game style and pace of games are totally different. How many times have we seen players get well over 20 possessions a game regularly and when given a chance at AFL level they struggle to get to mid teens. The Crows have an outstanding history of player development and I think its one area where no one can really fault.
