Also first time I have noticed this year how strong his body is.

The guy will be a decent unit when he matures.

Yep. And agile.

Fast becoming my favourite Crow.

Got past a couple of first quarter fumbles and played a very good game there after.

Can't wait until people stop comparing any random indigenous afc player to Macca. Wayne has shades of Burgoyne, but best of all...

He has a big whack of Milera in his game. Will be a beauty.

All I'm advocating for is a little patience. By all means discuss his weaknesses, but bear in mind that he's very much a work in progress, and there's no need to be overly concerned at such an early stage in his career.
He was nineteen then and he's still just twenty.

Jeez he's quickly becoming a favourite of mine, core strength is huge for a guy his size, he's only going to get better and better as well. We may have just found a real gem here. Shades of Shaun Burgoyne?
You guys are slow to catch up. I'm gonna do a Sloane Ranger and say that "I've been calling" him our Shaun Burgoyne since we drafted him. You're welcome.

Silk.

Barring 2 or three poor and costly decisions, Milera absolutely oozed class on the weekend. I'm surprised no one else has commented in this thread yet. 2-3 of the highlights on the most valuable player segment on AFC this week are the sort you expect to see in a players career highlights reel.
I had thought previously that comparisons with S Burgoyne were pretty optimistic, but if he can do this stuff as a 20 yo, I think we are in for an absolute pleasure to watch this guy for the next 12 years or so.
He has improved immensely and the way he fooled the opposition with spins one way and the back the other way was breathtaking.
I think Wayne will be in our top 5-6 best players next year and for a very long time. His trajectory when playing uninjured seems steep.
Keep taking the game on Wayne.
Those errors that were costly will be there occasionally, but less than at the moment. He will start to get BOG nominations soon.

Yeah correct. Players in “designated kicker” roles like Milera will always have the odd howler and commonly have poorer disposal effiency than your dour defender or inside midfielder, because they’re the ones actually taking risks with their kicks and handball less(handballing being generally a more efficient method of disposal. The opposition will also focus on shutting down their kicking a little more.

But yeah, very pleased with his progress, glad that he’s finally being given a decent shot at a role he’s suited to.

Just watched the replay. God he's good. The passes he makes set up so much play. And he's not afraid to thread the needle.

People be all like oohhh Milera missed a couple of kicks. That's just because we're used to him hitting 80%.

If it was Dmac or Atkins people would be like yeah not a bad game.

Plus his body work, spoiling, taking the game on from the middle of a contest. When was the last time Atkins or Dmac shrugged out of traffic?

Kids an absolute gun.

Bit unfair to Rat there, he's pretty good with the shimmy and getting around the opposition actually.

Yup, when he's in a good head space his agility is a weapon. One of the things that really goes the second he's not though.

Still though, that was an excellent response after an appalling first quarter from Milera.

Getting better every game & seriously impressive. I agree, we need to make sure that he keeps backing himself to take risk - keep using the elite evasion and footskills, and accept the odd skill error that he's prone to at this stage (like port's first goal).

The last qtr contest with boak on the wing may have been his best play ever.

Tv highlight I saw didn’t show how he had to choose to leave his man from a long way to impact that contest. He hesitates and arrives late or boak manages to pushe the ball forwatd in that contest and they’re off toward open goal and we lose.

This highlights how the maturity in his game and body have improved

Oh and his strength in the hips combined with agility make him almost untacklable at the moment and his aerial contest work is like Brodie smith at his best.

Has been a joy to watch his improvement in recent weeks

He has the perfect blend of evasiveness, skill and courage. Not afraid to put his body on the line. Can’t wait to watch this kid over the next 10 years streaming out of our defensive 50.

I love what I am seeing from Jnr

Yes he has made an error or two however he is now playing like a man, he’s got some belief and knows that he belongs

He is also starting to bring his weapons

Can’t wait for him to get another pee-season in and play a full season with Smirhy in the back half
