I gotta admit, I never understood the 1001 chances the club kept giving Milera. Never saw anything elite in him at all. However, I will gladly admit that I was wrong in the sense that - though I still believe he doesn't bring anything elite - he has definitely become rock solid. And tbh that's more than satisfactory.
I reckon his tackling pressure and kick are elite . Also think he will get even better the further away he is from his injury. He’s a big reason why the backline is functioning so well.

Just beat me to it. One of the few shining lights for the finals series. Really impressed with how he backed himself in one on one contests to outmark his opponent.

Thought Milera was our best tonight. Glad he had an injury free year.

Could he go into the midfield??
Idk maybe Nicks will give it a try in his next finals campaign. But in all seriousness, he's more outside and atm we can't win it at the source. But I wouldn't be averse to it, he would add a different dynamic

Seriously?

He had 11 touches last week, which is pathetic for a HBF.

He had 23 today, but averaged ~16m gained per possession; for your main HBF/distributor, that's rubbish. A couple of nice defensive efforts don't make up for the lack of drive and creativity.

He's playing one of the easiest positions on the ground and he rarely ever actually matters.

Saved plenty of added pressure to our bsckline with his defensive efforts.

Meters gained is kind of an average stat, just boot it long and look great.

Yeah not sure the 16m gained is reflective of his game.

I can count 3 times he kicked it beautifully to a leading forward which resulted in a mark and goal. Plus he created plenty of drive on a couple of occasions.

Was clearly our best i thought

Dreadful against Collingwood. Much better vs Hawthorn

We need more drive from half back though. Milera and Laird don't provide enough
The fall off from Hinge this year rarely gets talked about. He was doing this for 2 seasons and then all of a sudden just disappears.

Agreed his year was really disappointing and wildly inconsistent.

Not making excuses for him but with Milera and Laird both being shipped to HB this year his role has changed and could be the cause of some of his issues.

We had a bit of drive before Hinge imploded this season.

Which are the outliers? This year, or the 2 previous years?

Thought he was fine this finals series

He needs a Bailey Dale/Josh Daicos next to him to look his best, though

I actually wouldn’t mind seeing him at a few CBA’s. He could stop the oppos best mid and would also create some effective clearances with his ability to evade tackles and his clever ball use.

There’s no reason he couldn’t be them though, agile very good user, he has all the tools.

So with Ah Chee coming in, it will mean we will look at pushing Cumming to his better position at HB.

Given Ryan, Edwards,Cumming, Hinge and even Dawson able to play at HB, is it time to throw this guy into the midfield.

One of the better ground ball winners on the list (Dawson and Curtin arent great at this), able to work in congestion and having him in the middle might be handy

It doesn’t mean Cummings will go to half back if Curtin is playing midfield

Plus the back 7 are locked in with 3 talls, Max, Laird, Hinge and Milera. Although talk of Hinge going into midfield (lol) may see Cumming back where he’s decent.

The fact they are finally going to trial Hinge in the midfield indicates to me the club has realised how dire our midfield problem is.

Part of their planning for this year would have been that Rankine and Rachele would have had a big impact in the midfield which both were unable to do. Time for Plan C.

Who says we are trialling Hinge in the midfield?
