Finals start next Tuesday.

3v4, winner plays 2nd for the right to play who finishes on top in the final.
Odd. I'd have thought 1 v2, 3 v4 was the best way of doing it

Odd. I'd have thought 1 v2, 3 v4 was the best way of doing it

Since they seem to want to go with a 3 step finals process, I'd prefer they look at:

F1 - 1 vs 2 - winner hosts big final, loser has second chance

F2 - 3 vs 4 - loser eliminated, winner to face the loser of 1 vs 2

These two matches can be played the same day

F3 - loser of F1 vs winner of F4

Big Final

10:30AM starts on a Friday a hard sell. Think I've been to a game on a Sunday morning in Sydney at 10:10am last season.

I travel up from Geelong, so going to WBBL games at Junction Oval isn't the most convenient - I left home this morning around 8:15 to catch a train to Melbourne and took my seat as the players entered the field

Normally I wouldn't travel up for an early game when it's standalone game, but likely being our last game for the season I the effort

A couple of years back they had a weekend where we played on Saturday morning, then a double header the next day including the Melbourne Derby - getting cheap accommodation in Melbourne made it easy to make a weekend of it. But a standalone early start, isn't the easiest sell

I know the Strikers are a bowling side but jeez
13 runs off 1 legal delivery helps boost things

I thought our 9 runs off 1 legal Gardner delivery was good earlier today, but 2 maximums is fantastic

I was supposed to go to todays game at Junction Oval but I slept in. I was at a place probably 25 minutes away from the ground. I will say though, transport to the ground isnt as bad as some of the grounds in Sydney in particular: Blacktown Oval, Cricket Central, Drummoyne Oval. As a spectator, Junction Oval is a better ground for a spectator than Drummoyne.

I also do like the fact that the gates are open 1 hour before a game in Melbourne compared to half an hour early for the WBBL games up in Sydney. (North Sydney Oval and SCG from my experience for the WBBL games)

The no result ended up being a good result for Adelaide. They have destiny in their in their own hands last game. Beat the Sixer and they are through.

Perth also with destiny in their own hands, beat Brisbane and they are through.

Renegades need both Perth and Adelaide to lose their last games to make it.

After last night's unfortunate situation, I can imagine that league organisers would be relieved that the Gades beat the Sixers earlier in the day which locked Hobart into top spot - Sixers needed to win both their remaining matches to be a chance of knocking Hobart off top spot

If the Sixers won earlier today, I could imagine them being rightly frustrated with the no result in the Strikers/Canes match due to the circumstances leading to the no result

While Hobart may well have still been the favorites going into the second innings, there's been times where they've looked a little shaky when chasing

I think the interesting watch going into finals over this next week is going to be the watch on Hobart - they now don't play until Saturday 13, so they've got a weeks break until their next game

While their last game before last night was back on Monday 1st Dec - it'll be 12 days between batting innings for them, and will that potentially impact some momentum and form

Then look at their potential opponents:
  • Stars, a minimum of 3 matches since Dec 1
  • Sixers, a minimum of 4 matches since
  • Scorchers, a minimum of 3 matches
  • Renegades, a minimum of 4 matches
  • Strikers, a minimum of 3 matches

Cricket can be such a momentum game that the lack of recent matches could make for an interesting contest
