PREDICTIONS:

West Coast Eagles will select -
1st pick: Willem Duursma
2nd pick: Cooper Duff-Tytler
3rd pick: Cameron Nairn
4th pick: Tylah Williams (Bid matched)
5th pick: Cody Curtin

Rookie List Cat A/B additions:

Rookie Draft selection(s):
N/A - no list spots

SSP signings:
Deven Robertson

COMMENTS:

What would you do differently?

• Trade out our 5th pick if possible and match an expected bid for Koby Evans - it will be proven we should’ve moved Cripps to the rookie list
• Use our first pick in the RD on a project tall like Sam Ainsworth rather than a third SSP signing

Trades you would pursue (if any):

Trade pick 2,13 for 5,9 and take 2 of Sharp/Robey/Cumming/Farrow/Dovaston

Players you would have drafted instead:

Harley Barker over Nairn with our third pick
Tom Mitchell over Schoenberg if we use a third SSP signing

Players you would not draft:

Jevan Phillipou
Harry Schoenberg

DRAFT - R1:

Draft Prediction - up to and including West Coast’s third pick (or to the end of R1 if you’re feeling brave:

TBA

A joke not to delist but instead re-contract 33 year old Jamie Cripps.

Could have been re-rookied on the same conditions, and more importantly open up an extra list position so we could draft both Evans and Banfield.

Kind of decision that is perpetuating this club as a loser. Molly coddling old, broken down players who once were good but have had their day.

We get enough moaning and wailing and gnashing of teeth in the main thread, shouldn't this thread be reserved for predictions?

Rookie Draft selection(s):
1. Harry Schoenberg

SSP signings:
Deven Robertson

COMMENTS:

What would you do differently?

  • Like everyone else, would have created a sixth senior list spot by delisting/rerookieing Cripps
  • Split pick 2 (but it seems there were no good offers)

Trades you would pursue (if any):

13 and 31 for 9.

Players you would have drafted instead:

Think we’re a key defender short, might have gone for someone like Jacob Blight over Schoenberg as a mature rookie pick.

Players you would not draft:

Mason Cox

The first 2 picks will be for the best available players.
The 3rd and 4th will be for WA local talents (unless there are some very surprising sliders)
Last will be for the F/S

Pick 1 : Duursma
Pick 2: CDT
3rd and 4th (no idea, very dependent on other clubs' choice)
Last pick : F/S Banfield

PREDICTIONS:

West Coast Eagles will select -
1st pick: Willem Duursma
2nd pick: Cooper Duff-Tytler
3rd pick: Nairn
4th pick: Tylah Williams (Bid matched late, not in the first round)
Trade 5th pick: match Evans/Banfield (depend on who gets bid on)

Rookie List Cat A/B additions:
Evans/Banfield (depend on who gets thru. Cat A)
Wes Walley (Cat B)

Rookie Draft selection(s):
N/A - no list spots

SSP signings:
Deven Robertson
Finn Macrae

COMMENTS:

What would you do differently?
• Use our first pick in the RD on a project tall like Sam Ainsworth or raw ruckman rather than a third SSP signing. Not sure why we need Schoenberg!!

Trades you would pursue (if any):

Trade pick 2,13 for 5,9 F2 and take 2 of Sharp/Cumming/Dovaston

Players you would have drafted instead:

Addinsall or Barker over Nairn with our third pick
over Schoenberg if we use a third SSP signing

Players you would not draft:

Farrow
Robey
Jevan Phillipou
Harry Schoenberg

PREDICTIONS:

West Coast Eagles will select -
1st pick: Duursma
2nd pink: CDT
3rd pick: Lindsay
4th pick: Williams
5th pick: Banfield

Rookie List Cat A/B additions:
Evans, Walley

Rookie Draft selection(s):
Some random SA kid we have never heard of before.

SSP signings:
Get Dev, Finn

What would you do differently?
Bring back Phil,, miss the entertainment factor, whether his stories were true or absolute bollocks. Hoare island will never be the same again.

Trades you would pursue (if any):
Trade up pick 34 if able, could be some value in the 20’s.

Players you would have drafted instead:
Cumming, Sharp, Draper, M Reid, random260 thoughts? 👎

Players you would not draft:
Swift, Lamb, Jamo, Brander, Newman, Weedon, McDougall………

1. WCE - Duursma
2. GC - Uwland (Matched bid)
3. WCE - CDT
4. GC - Patterson (Matched bid)
5. Ric - Cumming
6. RIC - X. Taylor
7. BRI - Annable (Matched bid)
8. ESS - Robey
9: ESS - Farrow
10: Carl- Dean (Matched bid)
11. MEL - Grilj
12. MEL - Schubert
13. ESS (from CAR) - Sharp
14. HAW - Greeves
15. NM (from CAR) - Dovaston
16. GWS -O.Taylor
17. Suns - Addinsal (Matched bid)
18. WCE - Lindsay

Given I know nothing, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Ess and WCE do a trade - 2 & 13 for 5 and 9 (and maybe F2 or something extra).

I also wonder if 9 becomes a F1 instead (which is why we haven't worked hard enough to open more list spots).

West Coast Eagles will select -
1st pick: Duursma
2nd pick: Sharp
3rd pick: Farrow (if we get pick 9)
4th pick: Curtin
5th pick: Match Bids as they come

Curtin is early at pick 34 but I suspect the club rates him highly.

West Coast Eagles will select -
1st pick: Duursma
2nd pick: CDT
3rd pick: Lindsay
4th pick: Williams
5th pick: Swadling

Rookie List Cat A/B additions:
Evans, Banfield, Walley

Going with my heart a bit with Swadling. But I do recall hearing we rate him

I feel like Lindsay is a classic WC pick but I wouldn't be unhappy at all. Lethal left boot and he's worked closely with Duurs for Vic Country

PREDICTIONS:
West Coast Eagles will select -
1st pick: Willem Duursma
2nd pick: Cooper Duff-Tytler
3rd pick: Beau Adinsall
4th pick: Tylah Williams (Bid matched)
5th pick: Charlie Banfield

Rookie List Cat A/B additions:
Koby Evans, Wes Walley

SSP signings:
Deven Robertson
Finn Macrae
Harry Schoenberg

COMMENTS:
Pretty much just Twomeys draft/info but noone else has done it yet so Im first 😉

Be relatively happy with this tbh. Do think Essendon will have one last big crack at getting 2

I will have a crack!!

PREDICTIONS.
1st pick: Duursma
2nd pick: Sharp
3rd pick: Cumming
4th pick: Williams/bid matched
5th pick: Curtin

Rookie list: Banfield/Evans
SSP signings: Dev/Macra/Schoenberg

Trades on draft night: WC trade 2 & 13 to ESS for 5 & 6 and F2nd.
Too good of a deal to target players who are more suited to list holes, eg. midfield and the deal doesn't happen as suggested unless Sharp & Cumming are available which I suspect we have very good intel on RICH plans.

DRAFT:
1. WC - DUURSMA
2. GC - UWLAND BID MATCH
3. CAR - DEAN BID MATCHED
4. ESS - CDT
5. BRI - ANNABLE BID MATCHED
6. GC - PATTERSON BID MATCHED
7. RICH - ROBEY
8. RICH - X TAYLOR
9. WC - SHARP
10. WC - CUMMING
11. MEL - FARROW
12. MEL - NAIRN
13. ESS - DOVASTON
14. HAW - GRILJ
15. NM - PICKETT
16. SYD - KYLE BID MATCHED
17. GWS - O TAYLOR
18. GC - J MURRAY BID MATCHED
19. ESS - LINDSAY
20. WB - BARKER
21. ADE - MARSH
22. CAR - ISON BID MATCHED
23. GEE - THREDGOLD
24. WC - WILLIAMS BID MATCHED

After Williams bid matched our next pick should be 35 where we draft C Curtin.

Almost had to use most of Twomeys first 25 picks as predicted as he has decent intel on most clubs even if he doesn't on WC plans.
Re. the trade with ESS and who we are picking apart from the obvious Duursma and Williams bid.
Changed a couple around.

I understand the Schoenberg plan but I would have preferred a rookie spot for a project KPD llike S Ainsworth.

This rounds out our midfield with 3 high end talents and we get to assess them for a year and the rest of our list before 2026 draft where we will be needing a KPD/RUCK/NGA'S/FS and the best available talent with our 1st pick to comlement our list.

PREDICTIONS:

I do think Cal is on the money with the first three picks but considering the talent that will still be around our pick 34 (29 by the time its available), I am predicting we do not match on Williams as I think we have others rated higher at that space. For context I really like Williams but if Opportunity to get up for Barker or NHH I think we would.

West Coast Eagles will select -
1st pick: W Duursma
2nd pick: C Duff-Tytler
3rd pick: B Addinsall
4th pick: N Hibbins-Hargreaves
5th pick: C Banfield

Rookie List Cat A/B additions:
Cat B - Evans

Rookie Draft selection(s):
Nil - We save a spot for SSP Train On

SSP signings:
Dev Robertson
Finn Macrae
Harry Schoenberg

COMMENTS:

What would you do differently?
1. Pick only one of Macrae or Schoenberg
2. As many above stated moved Cripps to Rookie List
3. Package up pick 35 and St Kilda F2 to trade up to Hawthorn Pick 25 to take H Barker just before North get him, move him to Long Term Injury for the year to free up additional spot for Tom Mitchell for 12 months.
4. Take Banfield as a Rookie Selection

Players you would not draft:
J Lindsay, O Greeves or J Phillipou - Will all be good players but will not match the pressure game style we are building

DRAFT - R1:

Draft Prediction - up to and including West Coast’s third pick (or to the end of R1 if you’re feeling brave:

1763460417959.png

West Coast Eagles will select -
1st pick: Duursma
2nd pick: CDT
3rd pick: Addinsall
4th pick: NHH
5th pick: Banfield (or Curtin)

Rookie List Cat A/B additions:
Evans (catB)

Rookie Draft selection(s):
Curtin pick 1 in the rookie draft(or banfield)

SSP signings:
The names we all know DevRob, Macrae and Schoenberg

COMMENTS:
I think we may skip Williams if there are enough players we like still available, like NHH for example(I hope we like him anyway). That 4th pick is NHH/Williams for me

Banfield/Curtin with our last pick or taking first in the rookie draft is a toss up, depends on insider info on if either of those two have attention from other clubs.
Ive got Banfield with our last pick simply because id prioritise him if I could only pick one of them, whether hes bid on or not. Take a chance on Curtin not being selected - hes our Livingstone replacement in the WAFL side.
If Curtin isnt available then use that spot on a different tall, just needs to be a KPP tall of some sort to replace depth we lost this year.

Id still like to try to trade up with 13+ something for a pick off Melbourne for Farrow. I have liked him all year and id pay 13 + our own f2 for him no hesitation

PREDICTIONS:

West Coast Eagles will select -
1st pick: Willem Duursma
2nd pick: Cooper Duff-Tytler (1%er: Trade 2, 13 for 5, 9, F2, take Sharp)
3rd pick: Beau Addinsall (1%er: Dovaston if trade, Blake Thredgold if not)
4th pick: Tylah Williams (1%er: Harley Barker)
5th pick: Charlie Banfield (1%er: Cody Curtin)

Rookie List Cat A/B additions: Koby Evans

Rookie Draft selection(s): Sam Ainsworth (Pick 1)

SSP signings: Already know.

COMMENTS:

What would you do differently?
Not pick up Schoenberg in favour of a State League Ruck or KPD (Stumpf).
Delist and re-rookie Cripps.
Not match Tylah Williams in favour of using 34 and 41 to move up the board / picking a slider instead.

Trades you would pursue (if any):
Would consider moving 13 out for an F2 and a slide similar to the touted Carlton / Melbourne trade. Would Melbourne about a move possibly.

Players you would not draft:
Lindsay; Genuinely elite kick but offers nothing else to AFL standard.
Greeves; Way too slow, doesn't care for two way running, too much FIGJAM.
Phillipou; Way too much FIGJAM.
Williams; Overrated due to combine, rate him third of our 4 boys. Poor scoreboard impact and accumulation.

DRAFT - R1: This was my mock of the first round last week. Saints move doesn't work anymore given they probably wouldn't give up a 1st but lets just ignore that.

PREDICTIONS:

West Coast Eagles will select -
1st pick: Willem Duursma
2nd pick: Cooper Duff-Tytler
3rd pick: Ollie Greeves
4th pick: Harley Barker
5th pick: Cody Curtin

Rookie List Cat A/B additions:
Charlie Banfield (Cat A)
Koby Evans (Cat B)

Rookie Draft selection(s):
N/A - no list spots

SSP signings:
Deven Robertson
Finn Macrae
Harry Schoenberg

COMMENTS:

As much as I would like to secure Addinsall, I think GC will find a way to match on the night. So using Twomey's phantom as the guide.

Our third pick arrives and we see the likes of Lindsay, Greeves, Barker, NHH, Schubert, Phillipou still there. I think we slide back and shuffle up from 34 (which has come up to 29 after the GC/Bris/Car matches) to secure another two from that group. We use them to land a difference maker on the outside in Barker and a first possession winner in Greeves. Dogs is the only team with multiple picks between our two, with the first being ahead of the Hawks 2nd pick to get ahead for Greeves. It is a minor switch being one place but it allows us to choose from Barker or NHH in my draft version, and the dogs secure Lindsay. Additional picks can be swapped to match out the trade if the fanatics don't like it.

Because of this we don't match a bid on Tylah. It's crazy we never shifted Cripps off the main list, so I think it stands that we rate other options around his point of the draft instead after having had a close look at him all year.

I think Banfield makes it through and ends up on our list as a rookie. Evans I am 50/50 on but I have him sneaking in.

What would you do differently?

Sign on a KPD like Stumpf in the SSP instead of Schoenberg.

Players you would have drafted instead:

Every year there is value to be had late. Rodriguez, Dalton, Onley, Oudshoorn-Bennier, Blamires, and Allen could all be high upside options instead of Curtin with our last. Curtin as a KP makes sense for our list build.

DRAFT:

Exactly like Twomey's phantom draft up to Beau Addinsall. I used Pommy's draft calculator to see which picks get absorbed. This is how they fall up to 30 assuming no trades but our own swap with the dogs.

19 GC: Addinsall (match bid) - GC trade in points to match.
20 WB: Lindsay - As per Twomey. Dogs trade up to secure him ahead of us.
21 CARL: Ison (match bid) - Place bid as meets inside mid need.
22 WCE: Greeves - Similar skillset to Sharp it has to be said. Ahead of GEE and HAW who reportedly want him.
23 ADE: Marsh - As per Twomey.
24 GEE: T.Williams (WCE don't match) Sounds like Geelong are keen to bid.
25 ESS: Sweid (match bid)
26 FREO: Phillipou - Think they'd go small here over Schubert.
27 HAW: Schubert - Instead of Hetherton.
2nd round - Night Two
28 NM: Thredgold - Just seems like the perfect fit if he makes it here instead of at GEE.
29 WCE: Barker - Can take and wait since we have three high value prospects already.
30 WB: Emmett - As per Twomey.
