Does anybody know what odds are currently paying for the WCE to win the wooden spoon. I don't hate the Eagles, but I think they are a club in the biggest transition stage, with McKenna going and Matera, Kemp et al looking at their glory days through a rear view mirror. If they lose Cousins and Wirrpunda to injuries at all this year, the chances of them collecting the spoon will increase.

Does anyone else agree or have I smoked one fat cigarette too many?

Cheers,

Sure you are joffa, obviously you won't vote for collingwood. Even though we all know that they have the worst squad since Fitzroy.

You put out your best 22 (except Tarrant
who??) and only beat the heavily undermanned eagles by 2pts.

Are you getting worried? Cause you should be. If collingwooden wins more than 4 games this year i'll be surprised.

THE WEAGLES WILL BE SAVED BY A PACKAGE FULL OF STEROIDS WASHING UP ON THE BEACH FROM MALAYSIA. I TIP THE ROOS TO FINISH BOTTOM AFTER THEY STOP GETTING PAID AGAIN AND GO OUT AND LOSE EVERY MATCH IN PROTEST.

It is just possible that the Eagles will have 22 long term injuries resulting from the round one match and go on to be wooden spooners. On the other hand it may be that we will see pigs flying as well (Do Collingwoods interstate flights count?).
Whether the Eagles finish first or last one thing for certain is that we do not have a clue about how they will perform based upon the Ansett cup. So far we have seen pre-season trial games with rookies and interesting positional changes. Come round one the team will look nothing like anything we have seen so far.
Last season the Eagles were tipped by this forum by just about everyone to be in the top 4. Injuries crucified them and they didn't have the depth to handle them. Now the injured are mended and the depth has been increased substantially.
I will let the Eagles real season results speak for themselves.

Ummm...a collingwood supporter predicted a wooden spoon for the eagles, obviously i am not going to retaliate by bagging some other team.

And anyway, everything i wrote was true, so there's nothing for them to complain about

I dont reckon we will do that bad. I would say we will finish just out of the 8. With a bit (probably a lot) of luck we may find ourselves in the finals.

Totally agree! If we can keep the injuries to a bare minimum, we won't be too far from the 8. Fingers crossed for some of that luck WCE2000 mentioned.

The Eagles have 12 games at Subiaco this year. They will win at least half of those games plus a few on the road. It won't be enough for the spoon. Plus history has shown that Victorian clubs have picked up the spoon (St Kilda and Collingwood)

Cobblers!!!!!
Last season we were out of the 8 due to injuries and Judge stamping his bloody mark on the club. We'll be in the 8 like we were for the 10 years before

Well the Eagles have finished winless and almost the bottom of the pile in the Ansett Cup saved only by the woeful for and against of the other winless side....um....who is it again? Um....oh the Bombers I believe. Did everyone realise that in essence, Essendon are the Ansett Cup 2001 Wooden Spooners? They used to be pretty good I hear. I know it is only fleeting but don't you just love the unpredictability of football.

I don't know. We could do okay, or we could be really really bad. If you can actually bet on the wooden spoon, it wouldn't be a bad bet, simply because bookies are reluctant ever to write us off.....
I certainly hope it doesn't happen of course!

It wont happen Collingwood Saints Crows Freo Port all capable of finishing behind us. We have 12 home games as said and we win half of those couple on the road both against Freo as usual and i figure 9 or 10 wins and just outside the 8.

ODN's,

I was just thinking that. We had the worst record of all 16 teams, so we got the "spoon" of the Ansett Cup. Oh well. It's amazing how we went from Ansett Cup premiers last year to 16th this year. Not 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 8th. Not 12th, or 14th. But 16th!!!

Enjoy our lack of form while you can, because it won't last. I guaran-Dan24-tee it.
