Pathetic pathetic pathetic I am so angry and I don't even support Geelong I am a North supporter, In many ways this was like 1998 north v crows, we sprayed, missed and lost opportunities left right and centre (2g-12b in our most dominant qtr for the yr, (the 2nd qtr)), at least we had a windy day to contend with on that day. On the flip side every time the crows went forward they looked dangerous and every second time seemed to kick a goal, SOUND FAMILIAR CAT SUPPORTERS!

When you miss easy chances it spreads like a cancer and gives the underdog a lift and your constant forward pressure acts as a clogging mechanism for your forward line, when you turn it over it puts your back line in one on one contests in quick motion and makes it hard for the best defender to handle consistently.

Your boys tried hard but needed a spark that no one could provide you must admit even when you had easy shots it felt like you were never going to get them and it got worse as the game wore on and the easy misses racked up.

I feel gutted for you and I know one thing for sure even though the next year North won the flag I still remember 1998 like it was yesterday and feel I will never get over it.

Sorry guys but you will never escape the fact you choked on the biggest day and gave a sucker (Hawthorn) the chance to win they never should have got. In no way did they deserve the flag today it was simply a case of the cats handed it just like 1998 for North!

HOPE YOU WIN IT NEXT YEAR AND THE HAWKS WIN 24 IN A ROW AND DROP THE GF. There is just no justice in the system when you outperform all teams so comprehensively all season and they get a fluky day and score a flag. NO JUSTICE!!

Cheers mate.

We are gutted but I am trying to remain positive. Hey, I like the Roos, great team song! (Hearts to hearts and hands to hands.. {we play in front of empty stands :D} just kidding :D......)

For the record: Not happy about the way the game played out:(.

Still very proud of our boys and what they've achieved. I've endured more heartache than I've felt today following the Cats and I don't intend going anywhere. I believe in our team and I'll stand by them win lose or draw:thumbsu:

Now I know we are all feeling shattered at the loss we weren't meant to have. But we lost plain and simple and it is time to suck it up. Sure feral opposition supporters are going to give us shit for a while but we have been getting that for a lot longer than this current successful period, so what is new?

Our players and coaches had a pretty shitty day at the GF. If you are feeling shattered just imagine how they feel. They feel like they have let themselves and us down. They will still be hurting long after you settle into the next ODI cricket match.

But the thing that is really upsetting me is the reaction of some of our supporters. They must be Bandwagoners because no true supporter would so quickly desert their team after losing the GF. Some of you don't even know what it is like to know real defeat. I was at every GF loss during the 90's and I am still a mad passionette Geelong Supporter. Losing today is no different to me. I will stick by my team and show them that despite the great disapointment I share with them, I will never turn my back on them.

Bandwagon supporters make me sick. Now you can all sink back into your shells and pretend that you never really supported Geelong. Damn Morons.

But for those of you who stand true. Who stand by the side of our team in victory and defeat I salute you. Our time will come again. Because WE ARE GEELONG!:thumbsu:

To our lads, we feel for you. We will be back watching you during the preseason, we will going to the games next year and enjoying the ride. We are so proud of you for what you have achieved up to the 08 GF. We have loved watching you revitalise football from that dreadful defensive flooding into an exciting fast game. You have done this. You have won a premiership, brownlow, MVPs, dominated the seasons like not many teams. The hawks got so good by playing the game that you play. Time to learn and set yourselves for another great year next year.

all good and well, i was there during the 90's aswell, but one lose all season, missed shots from 5 metres out, there is abig feeling that we had amassive chance to win back2back. you got to remember its human reaction to be upset the 1st few hours or days after you lose a GF, of course some people are goin to vent anger etc. the cats will be up there the next 2 years you would think so hopefully we get another premiership coz this teams deserves it. gary ablett snr and junior how lucky are we.

I can't believe Bomber is copping it already!

I cried for Gaz and the boys after the siren, I can't even imagine how they would be feeling as they wake up this morning. I bet the last thing they feel like doing is heading to KP to see the thousands of people they'd feel they've let down.

I don't care about the crap I get over summer - couldn't be more proud and appreciative of what the club has delivered the past 2 years and there will be more good times ahead.

been a member for 20 yrs, missed only 1 game during bombers reign and that was a trip tp perth but as of today i am only a barracker of the cats now, i will support them finacially thru memberships etc, they lost me yday, no other team could of lost that game except us and it hurts, i am over the near is good enough mentallity, we r a pathetic underachieving club who lose grand finals plain and simple and there the facts.

I agree with most on this board. Some of the lads would be highly peeved at their own performances; shattered I'd say. Some have raised good comments on the boards to be fought down with the 'be proud brigade'. I'm part of that brigade, but some have fairly good statements to make.

I wouldn't call those people morons and such, we are all Geelong, whether you like it or not. All would have the exact same disappointment, it's just the way they display it that brings on this tag.

I'm extremely happy with the after game display by all the club, everyone was there lending support. We will bounce back from this, I have no doubt.

they lost me yday

So something good did come out of yesterday.Bye bye

Don't let the door hit you on your way out.See you again in 12 months perhaps.

I'm not gonna say we'll make the grand final again next year but I'll still enjoy watching the boys play. I hope yesterday's loss doesn't affect membership sales for 2009.

I was afraid to jump on the forums to be honest. Came straight to the Geelong board and will probably avoid the general forum and certainly Bay 13. It's hard to handle.

Very upset, disappointed in some, but my faith remains strong that 2009 will be vengeance just like Frank mentioned last night. I believe also that the team will hurt for a long time over this - because they know they could have won it if they'd played properly.

Bring on 2009 and may 2007 help us breathe easy.

I will purchase a 2009 membership to show my support. (Never have before.)

Underacheivers? I'm sorry but, did I read that someone called them 'underacheivers'. Why I think that is the biggest load of bull I have ever heard. Geelong have lost grandfinals before. It's not the first and it's not the last. Just suck it up, the sun will come up tomorrow, it's not the end of the world. I'm hurting to, just because we lost, doesn't make us any less of a team. We are Geelong, and we WILL bounce back.

Re: We Are GEELONG!!!......

f**k these boards give me shits sometimes.

so many here thought it was all sweet and just a matter of turning up to get the flag.

just a second loss for the season and suddenly the sky is fallin' in!!

It's upsetting obviously. And don't worry about bandwagon-ers.. their absence gives us better odds for tickets to the grand final.

As for you AMMOS08.. congrats, you earn today's "moronic poster of the evening" award. Your GC17 would kill for our players - like it or not.

Well how would you describe it? Colsest thing to it I'd say. Second loss for the year and its a Grand Final! ****ing hell, imagined if that happened at a real club like Essendon - Windy Hill would be burnt to the ground. Only at Geelong could such an intolerable result be tolerated.

Did he say anything about playing in the pre season (so he can get some match fitness back into him?)

Wonderful post, CF.

You're an excellent leader of the Geelong Bigfooty community which is borne out in the fact you made the effort to bring us all together in such a painful time.
Well done, CF :thumbsu:
