Good video, would have preferred 2 Port players, but wow what a match, I may have been young then, but I'll never forget that match and the week leading up to the grand final.

I was so damn sick that day, but I wasn't going to miss that Prelim.

I remember when the final siren went, I surged to me feet along with everyone else .... and everything just went black. My body was trying to pass out.

But buggered if I was going to miss this moment.

So, I grabbed my wife's shoulder to stay up right. She turns to me, wraps her arms around my neck and starts jumping and i'm thinking "this can't be helping."

I fought it. Got my shit together, then went back to Alberton.

Great night.

And being at the MCG the next week. Just amazing.

A great week to be a Port fan.

yep amazing game and Gav, what a legend! Everyone went nuts at the end - screaming and jumping around and hugging whoever was nearby - haha. Great video - I hope some of the people there that night (and/or at the gf) who've given up their memberships, see it!

I think youre talking about Wilson, he took 2 incredible marks running back with the ball, and they were at important stages when the Saints were making a charge

And to think he didn't have any shoulders for those last two matches. Michael Wilson. The hardest and toughest ever player I will ever witness playing AFL.

One of the things I vividly remember about that game was that in the first quarter St Kilda were totally dominating us until Gehrig kicked his 100th goal.

The game took five minutes to restart after getting all the people off the ground and totally killed their momentum.

We got ourselves back in to the game after that and the rest they say is history

They were amazing goals on an amazing night (even though i was up the other end). To me though, Byron Pickett's opening goal on the run in the QF was right up there too. What a massive statement in shedding the choker tag it was. Coming out in the opening minutes and doing that. There was no going back. And the crowd totally lost it's shit!
Amen. As soon as he slotted that through in the first minute you knew there wouldnt be a repeat of 02 & 03.

I remember that, everyone including PAFC supporters ran out there onto the ground!

A quiet night here in the Pakeha household, and not a lot that inspired us to watch the idiot box. So me and the lad fished out the 20 odd minute One Club video that was sent out to us last year, followed by the Gavin Wanganeen Story video. Bought back so many sweet memories. Doubly so for me as I used to follow the Bombers in the VFL/AFL before Port made it. What a talented group they had in the mid 90s.

The rubberman himself was absolutely amazing, and to relive that Prelim.... I was amaxed at how well I could remember the passages of play, given the amount I used to drink in those days.

The lad wants to get Gav to autograph his arm, so he can get a tattooist to make it permanent. Hmmm. 13 might be a bit young for that !

I suggest if anyone wants a bit of an uplifter in these days of no footy, do yourself a favour and source this DVD.
