Quite a bit has been said on the number one pick Watts/Natinui/Rich situation, and having first choice would be great, but call me old fashioned I'd bloody love to avoid the wooden spoon this week. We will still have 4 wins and get our priority pick, but it would be a huge lift to the club after a horrible year.

WC: F 1605 A 2371 %67.69
Melb: F 1588 A 2481 %64.01

So WC will lose, and probably by a fair margin, if they lose 150-50 their percentage drops to 65.65.

And if we beat the tigers (who have nothing to play for now they are no chance of finals), say 80-60 we go to 66.69.

If it gets announced that it will be Yze and White's last game, and Bailey gets stuck into the players after an insipid performance against Port I could really see this happening.

Are you sure you did that second calculation right there, MB?

By my calculation, that winning score would result in a percentage of 65.64, leaving us just short.

I want to crush the Tigers, I really do.

It won't happen but I want our young players to make a statement. I want them to go out and get in the face of the opposition. I remember in Round 1 we were smashed, the next time we played the Hawks guys like Beamer and Jonesy didn't give an inch. Everyone will remember when Beamer put Buddy down on the wing, Buddy got up and Jones put him down again.

Even if we lose by heaps, at least show some mongrel lads. I'm not saying go out and whack them behind play, but play with the intensity of a final.

It probably won't happen and we'll get done by 10 goals, but I'd love a win here.

Oh how I wish we could avoid the wooden spoon. I'm sick of 'em. If we play 4 quarters without the customary 20 minute fadeout then we can beat Richmond and just need Geelong to do the right thing and smash West Coast into oblivion. It's a long shot (us winning particularly) but I have hope!

Here's an interesting tidbit, if we win 82-54 then both us and the Eagles will be equal on 16 points with a percentage of 65.88.

What happens then? Yes I know it won't happen but do they go by which team has kicked the most goals? or alphabetical order?
Yeah I think it would be most goals, or maybe they should get it because we beat them. I know it works something like that, and if those things are even I think it comes to down to a toss of a coin, that would be interesting.

Given that there's no chance we're going to pick the same person West Coast are what's the point of finishing last? Stupidity.

Exactly! We need a win today people, a win big enough to present West Coast with their first Wooden Spoon. I never want to finish last, and in the 150th year it'd be some consolation to finish our only round not in 16th place as this round.

****in win this Dees!

I'm off to the game

The headline said 'we can do it' for a reason, all we needed was some kind of minor miracle involving Richmond losing 18 players before the start of the game and we might have been a chance.

Well, at least we can look forward to the #1 draft pick and the #1 PSD pick. Add into this equation the continued development of our younger players, I think we have something to look forward to next year.
