We can finish second now!!

With Adelaide's loss today now all we have to do is win all our remaining games & we have the second spot sewn up.

What an amazing turnaround considering there was even talk Lions missing out on the top four spot..

Hopefully we can get a win over Sydney tomorrow and then we have another home game next week v Geelong and then the Doggies at the Dome.. It's looking good for 2 home finals again this year.

Agreed, does anyone know what the current situation is with regard to home finals etc? Didnt they announce a modifying of it a few weeks ago? Obviously if we finish second (likely) we are at home to third team in the first round, unless thats Collingwood in which case would be travelling? If we win that would we be quaranteed a home prelim final or would we have to travel ?(assumes that port finishes first and wins week one). It's all so confusing.

The changes a few weeks ago were for the first week of the finals. The preliminary final situation is the same as the last couple of years; one must be played in Melbourne. So assuming Port doesn't lose in the first week like they did last year, we're looking at a Melbourne preliminary final. The best we can hope for is that it is against a non-Melbourne side, so no one has home ground advantage. And I think we'd go into a final against Collingwood at the MCG without too many fears. Probably a fairly modest price to pay for our poor form in the middle of the season.

If we can get second spot on the ladder, we need to hope that Collingwood or Adelaide finish 4th. That way the chances of Port losing are higher than say playing West Coast or Sydney at FP.

The Crows are pretenders, they have no depth, you dont want them to play Port. You need Collingwood to play against Port and repeat on last years effort. Collingwood at least have guts, and dont depend on five or six good players to hold up a team like the Crows do. If the Crows finish third, well you guys WILL have an easy beat in the first week of the finals, then hopefully you guys are up in Brisbane to demolish Port.

1. Qualify in top 4, preferably top 2
2. win week 1
3. win week 3
4. win grand final

Thanks for the words. We won't make second now. I hope we finish 4th and beat Port in the first week of the finals.
