I'm not sure a rebuild was ever on the cards but we do need to cut deep this year and nail this draft.

The performances from our depth underneath at EP have been as underwhelming this year as I can remember even in our shit years.

..christ...we need 2 gun midfielders. Maybe, halve Nisbos salary by half and buy 2 gun mids!

We're too nice

It's a residual legacy of our mid 2000's era

Our players for the most part don't play with any mongrel. How often do you see our players getting up in the face of their opponent. We aren't nasty. We don't impose ourselves on teams

As an organisation we go with the flow. When was the last time you saw our admin not toe the afl line. Luke hodge got done for drink driving. Did the club suspend him? No. Did the club cop heat for not suspending him? Yes

But they rode it out, took the heat and won games of footy. We suspended Lycett mid season when we had no rucks for an indiscretion no one knew about

We've recruited good citizens so when a player like Harley Bennell becomes available we don't even consider him. Maybe we dodged a bullet on that one who knows

Dusty Martin was begging for a club to take him away from Richmond a couple of years ago but we didn't even have half a look

Safe

Conservative

Corporate

Hawthorn are a bunch of campaigners but they never get called out on it because they win. And the one time they got caught they took out an injunction and the media don't question them anymore

I love our club but **** me they piss me off at times
The only one that really does it is Nelson and he seems to get dropped for 2 or 3 weeks after he has a decent game

I agree our depth is a real issue.
We need to find the mix of recruiting a couple of ready made footballers ala Lobb and a gun midfielder and some quality kids into the club.

I also believe we need a chf (whether thats MCGovern/Lobb and play MacKenzie back??)to release Darling as the third KP forward.

We will not win a flag with Hill,Masten.Brown.Lamb,Butler needs to retire,McGinity,Colledge, the baseballer and irishman.
Theres another 2 or3 but hey you cant get rid of the whole squad.

I would love to get Lobbe and either a David Swallow or a Omeara into our side but unsure if we would have enough to make this a realistic trade proposition. With what we have got I am looking forward to seeing more from a fit Redden given he can have an uninterrupted pre season and become that inside midfielder to work with Shuey and Priddis and introduce Nelson into the mix and Duggan given he can improve his disposal and get a little stronger.

Love your passion, but I've thought since about mid-2012 that we still need one or two A grade midfielders.
.... and we get Jetta. FFS Some real jokers at the club.

Also, Redden, I'm willing to forgive that trade, he still may come good and has a bit of age to run out.

Seriously Redden 3 years ago before his injuries was damn good so if and that's a big if, he can rediscover that form we only need one more decent mid.

Swallow who has injury issues and Omera who hasn't played a game in years.
We don't need to take any more gambles on players. Trade in one that is injury free and has good form and shows heart and interest.

****ing always banking on the broken down cattle.

I'd be prepared to take Swallow, David as I believe the medical staff at Gold Coast are inept.

JOM - I feel he is shot.

Lol Shuey are you ******ed. Hutchings played well too, you obviously didnt watch the game

Hutchings had a fair few clangers and directly cost WCE goals - similar to LeCras.

The shuey call was ridiculous - he elevated his status in the past month.

Coniglio - Pick 2
Ollie Wines - Pick 7
Bontempelli - Pick 4

If WCE want an A grade young midfielder, they need a top 5 draft pick as that's where they are drafted. These rarely get traded.

The other way is to develop players like Hannebery, Shuey and Fyfe from later draft picks.

Who are you going to sell for top 5 pick? Or should we tank a year?

Whats our round 1 team look like next year?

Thursday it was

Brad Sheppard Will Schofield Thomas Barrass
Shannon Hurn Jeremy McGovern Sam Butler
Elliot Yeo Matt Priddis Jamie Cripps
Mark LeCras Jack Darling Chris Masten
Mark Hutchings Josh J. Kennedy Josh Hill

Jonathan Giles Andrew Gaff Luke Shuey
Mitchell Brown Dom Sheed Sharrod Wellingham Scott Lycett

Was that finals loss, the last game LeCras will have with the club? Is he contracted for another season? He is absolutely cooked. It's frustrating watching a player that is clearly past it, continue to be a significant contribute to losses.

It's sad that it was on a Thursday night. I'm sure most just left as quickly as possible as it was a working night. No laps of applause.

Contracted until 2017 I think, but I don't see anyone else to take his spot

Anyone who is dissecting his game will see that he is butchering the ball at almost every contest. I'm sure he is getting a couple of goals as defenders are lagging off and double teaming the more dangerous Kennedy and Darling.

I'd like Lamb, Nelson and Duggan playing over LeCras. LeCras should be playing minutes in the midfield but just isn't capable.

Karpany our best bet I think. Still mikes of it, but I'd expect to see him feature a tad more in 2017.

Lamb- meh from what Ive seen would need to take a tall fwd spot but hasn't shown he can make the spot his
Nelson- more midfield time or blend of back/mid
Duggan- more midfield time & fwd flank.
We have had so many back flankers & not many small fwd or mid/flanker types over the last 8 years
