Hang on, hang on, hang on.

I tune out for a few hours and both GWS and GC effectively shoot down any rumours about them being in the hunt for Beams.

That's just...glorious.
I can't remember who the Collingwood and Brisbane participants were, but I recall that someone here is due some money from a bet on whether Gold Coast would make a serious tilt at Beams or not.

Genuine question; why the need to give over both? Surely one or the other would be sufficient.

Perhaps time to take the Beams blinkers off.
If you offer North more they'll want to include us in the deal. To be fair on Jack Crisp he isn't going to get a start next year. Don't know enough about Norths team but if they need him I reckon ship him to Brad Scott.

I'm a bit worried about "the Beams trade". OK he's a good player, but don't we have a lot of good and developing mids. Yes he could potentially add a bit but if 3R's, Aish, Hanley, Zorks, Lewy, Mayes, Dawson etc don't make a decent midfield, what ever will.

Second are we convinced about him. OK I understand his dad's got cancer and I am very sorry about that. But how much if any of this is tied up in (a) a desire to get out of Collingwood, (b) a play for more money.

Thirdly for such a high profile player does he display the type of leadership and character you would expect. Is he part of Collingwood's leadership group. They say he doesn't like Leading Teams - fair enough but in any job you've got to cop some (hopefully constructive) feedback from colleagues and bosses. What about the rape allegations - what as that about. Collingwood supporters seem to think he should be grateful because the club "got him off". Does it matter that he didn't tuen up at their B&F.

TBH if he is that keen to come and the deal falls through we will have another shot and his value to Collingwood will reduce if they don't have a 100% effective player for 2015 then someone who is out of contract.

Bottom line - I am a bit sceptical. We miss Pick 5, we potentially miss a 200+ game Key Pos player - Wright, Durden etc. The word is this is the draft for talls - next year is all about mids. Plus of we go all out for the trade we either throw in an up and coming player, or Pick 25 - and look what picks in the 20'a got us last year with smart recruiting.

Just my thoughts. What I would be doing is is offering Pick 5 ONLY. I would also be stating that publically. At 5 pm Friday, deal would be off and he would be Collingwood's problem.

I honestly don't see why we should be trading overs to appease Collingwood. Our second rounder is better than Collingwoods second rounder and that is enough to grab Greenwood to on trade to Collingwood to get Beams. I don't understand how we should be adding in players as well when we have the better pick to start with.

The trade that has been floating around is all that is needed. Brisbane Beams, NM pick 25, Collingwood Pick 5 + Greenwood.
It is a fair trade all around considering the circumstances with North losing out a bit but Greenwood is uncontracted and North screwed up the salary cap so can't afford him anyway. Greenwood + pick 5 better than pick pick 5 + 25/fringe player.
Hopefully the trade gets done soon and looking forward to Beams being in a Lions jumper.

I thought Crisp has deserved his spot going by the games he played at the end of the season. If he trains hard during the preseason then he would get first crack I would have thought. Hopefully he signs on though.

Sorry to intrude.

Yeah Beams was in our leadership group as a 22 year old but decided to withdraw himself from it last year when he was really struggling with injuries and was just focused on getting onto the park.

As for the rape allegations, Beams was just part of the story(consensual sex) when the women was describing how she was raped by another man later that night in a completely unrelated incident. She was also proven to have lied to the courts about the actual rape.

Great... well the next few days will be Collingwood supporters asking for Priddis, Boak, Selwood, Fyfe... as they try to hang onto the last remnants of hope that they will win the Beams trade.

Pies posters not happy with us potentially getting involved in a 3 way trade that could deliver them Greenwood.

Ironic considering it was them who this time last week were proposing three way trades that delivered them Dangerfield from Adelaide. Not to mention the number of times they have suggested Aish to Crows and we on trade pick 10 and 5 to them for Beams.

Seems incredibly pig-headed to me. Really feels like it's got a got too personal for some and they can't see the forest for the trees. I think some of them would prefer a trade that was less beneficial to them as long as it hurt us.

They wanted a high pick and a ready made midfielder. We can make that happen with Greenwood.

Yeah they are all starting to sound like Eddie McGuire whenever Brisbane or Equalization gets mentioned. His Triple M morning rants can be so funny...

I also find it incredibly ironic how they are so bullish about James Aish yet are talking down the value of Pick 5.

We took Aish with pick 7 last year and even more ironically, they had pick 6.

The real irony is if they say that pick 5 is vastly worse than pick 4 and would not be at all acceptable.

This is after bashing down draft picks as to much of a 'lotto' and players not worth them.

They just want a high pick and a ready made midfielder and Greenwood...conveniently forgetting that they hang on to their second round pick required for Greenwood that North have rejected in the 3 way deal.

If the varcoe thing gains some legs, pies may need our pick 25. The talk of a possible 3 way trade between Harry o, Clark and varcoe would mean pies don't get pick for Harry yeah?
What do they give north for Levi? North would prefer our 25 to pies 29 or 30 whatever it is.
Does this sound plausible?

The Varcoe, clark, harry swap seems like a win for everyone. With Levi and Varcoe Pies get 2 ready made players coming in. Our 25 would be needed for Levi though.

5, Moore, Levi, Varcoe, 30 is pretty good to prop them up.
