Only a small short term loss if we walk away now, still a chance to strike next year provided he doesn't sign an extension, bank the cash now for a heavy PSD draft offer. May even be better in hindsight if we pick well with pick 5.

Only 44 hours and 17 minutes to go (EST)

At this stage, couldn't give a rat's clacker whether we get Beams or not. That's how much I'm over the whole thing.

Far as I'm concerned Collingcrap can stick it. My only interest in this shambles is hoping our club has the balls to tell them just that.
I feel the same way. Was over it before trade period started. Now it's 3 days in with nothing done.

If we didn't get Beams, l can't see us getting the KPF that we wanted. Wright and McCartin would both be gone by then l think.
I think we could very well snag Mccartin at pick 5.
Surely saints will take Petracca.
Melb will take Brayshaw and Wright as he better suits their needs seeings as they already have Hogan and have lost Clarke, so Wright is perfect to fill that void.
Surely GWS has used enough top draft picks on key forwards.
That will leave Mccartin for us!! The only thing that could tempt that is if the dogs some how manage to move up the order but I can't see that happening!!

Probably been said before but two can play at this "deadline" game.

I'd love to see us tender a final offer to the Pies and demand a yes or no answer by 5pm tomorrow on the basis that we don't want to "waste our time anymore" since we now have other quality players knocking at the door trying to get in.

Christensen sounds like a reasonable option and probably won't come at anything like the "price" Goose-ingwood are demanding for Beams

Majority of them have definitely tempered their expectations. Still have a few clinging to fantasy land
I'm hoping we don't cave here. There should be a stage where we say that's it. Why should those pricks be the only dictators?
If it doesn't go through, they have a disgruntled player on their hands, and we have the excitement of what picks 5 and 25 will bring.(and possibly another pick/patfull or merrett)
If we get Christensen, great and we'll no doubt still have 5 also.
With any scenario, how are we the loser here?
Agree, there's no losing scenario. It's just a matter of how much we are winners. If we keep our picks we get two quality kids to add to our young talent. We also would get another chance at Beams next year. We certainly won't 'lose' on a deal involving Beams this year. If we get Christensen it's a welcome bonus. That's why there's no chance of us giving up a highly rated young player and caving- it's the only way we can lose.
If Collingwood don't trade Beams they are keeping a player against their will with understandable reasons for wanting out. All his teammates will know he's itching to get out of the place if they retain him. That's an unwanted situation for player and club alike.
We can't lose, Collingwood can. Hence they're more likely to 'cave' and accept a trade not involving a star player in return.

What is it with people's obsession with ordering a midfield list? Why would we be more inclined to move a player on if the incoming player moves above them on this imaginary 'ranking system'. Has it become a rule now that you are only allowed 6 midfielders on your list at any one time?
Someone should come with a list of trade week shit that doesn't actually happen.

Thats rich coming from brisbane supporters, you have around 8 'Untouchables' there's a reason yous finished 15th on the ladder, your list isnt that good, Beams comes on your team and is easily top 2 players on your list.
All you are doing is displaying to everyone you don't know what you are talking about. They are untouchable based on our current team dynamic not their ability relative to the outside world.

Might have to walk away from this one, if the latest "Age" article has any substance.

Much less confident than I have ever been, TBH. Was always going to be a big ask.
I'd be ok with that. In fact, with Christensen in play I'd be inclined to take pick 25 off the table. Take pick 5 or cya in 12 months, Pies.

Actually, I forgot the arbitrary Friday deadline. Thereafter we can reduce the Beams offer further to pick 25, or whatever we've got left after the Bundy trade.

If the roles were reversed. Collingwood would be trying to bend us over so much.

So happy that we haven't caved and nor should we. If we ended up giving into Collingwood demands, we would have only looked silly. Let's get him next year and go after Allen Christensen

Yep, not really fussed about losing Beams. Sure, we'd have Collingwood supporters teasing us about not being able to grab him, but we'll be the ones laughing. They have a disgruntled player on their list who will most likely leave next year. Good luck getting anywhere near what we're offering this year in next season's trade period. Getting a few picks could have set them up well for a nice rebuild, but instead being the arrogant tossers that they are, still deluded that they are in contention for top 8, want "senior-ready-made" players.

Why ask for Aish or Mayes then?

Idiots.

Whilst I'd absolutely love Dayne Beams at the Lions; he's more a luxury than a pressing need. A KPF, which we should be able to get at pick #5 (albeit a raw inexperienced one) is a better outcome than paying overs.

Happy to go into the 2015 season with Rockliff, Rich, Redden, Hanley, Zorko, Aish, Taylor & Mayes as our prime midfield movers :footy:

Pick 5 for Christensen + Pick 16. Make those bastards sweat on the thought of them not getting a decent trade this year and losing him for SFA next season. Continue discussions with Geelong all day tomorrow and watch Collingwood come crawling over for pick 5 + pick 25 deal. That is how you play mind games with those tossers.

I wonder if the Pies supporters that rely on the 'injury' excuse for their loss to the Lions this year realise that we were also missing 2 of our starting mids, our best ruck, and the full forward that we started the year with?
