The last time I looked the Basques were Spanish and lived in Spain with the full rights of Spanish citizens.

I lived in Spain for several years and I can assure you there is no widespread support for ETA among the bulk of the Basques. Quite the reverse.

Supporting ETA and independence/autonomy are not the same thing. Jews lived in many countries with the full rights of citizens yet you still claim they have a right to a homeland. Your argument doesnt hold. No consistency at all. If the Basques are Spanish then why arent Jews living in Britain British?

Members of the Basque parliament have voted in favour of proposals for more autonomy from Spain.

The plan, drawn up by the leader of the Basque government, Juan Jose Ibarretxe, calls for a referendum on independence.

Mate don't argue logic or obvious historical precedents - way to civilised for this thread. "Basques don't like ETA ergo they don't believe in an independent State" - she must'nt have heard of the Basque soccer players who refuse to play for Spain

Again you display your woefull lack of knowledge of Jewish history.

It was precisely because the Jews had been emancipated in Europe and given full civil rights and yet the persecution and pogroms continued that Theodore Herzl uncannily prophecied that Europe would attempt to destroy Jewry and founded the modern Zionist movement. Herzls time frame was 50 years, chillingly his calculation was out by 20.

If Herzl hadn't perceived the future, and if the Zionists hadn't emigrated to claim their ancestral land, then after WW2 the pitiful remnant of the remaining Jews would have ended their lives in refugee camps.

Jews living in Britain are British! Your xenophobia gets the better of you.

ps Meds, I would have thought you'd be a fan of the Israelis. They don't release terrorists with blood on their hands!
