I cant believe some of you people would actually call for Shae to come in to the side??? He cant play football. Am i the only one who can see this?????

No, no. You are definitely not the only one.

I have nothing personal against the dude, but from what I've seen that experiment is a pointless exercise now.

And it won't be Hartley any time soon as he's missed recently with some kind of foot problem, I believe [seen at Vic Park wearing a moon boot].

Don't think Dawes has the agility for down back versus good players, but it wouldn't be the end of the world against weaker teams to stick him down there with our core backs in pretty good form again now. He might get a shake up or take a couple of marks himself from doing it, and we could give Witts as the second marking target and back up ruck for a couple of weeks without it being an outrageously early call.

we're not playing shae. i dunno what we're going to do but not that surely.
I find it funny that people are talking about elevating him.
He is lucky to be getting a game in the VFL as he is barely up to that standard.
I think if the criteria is height then I would have Wood, Ceglar and Witts light years in front of Shae because at least they are able to play football something Shae can't do.

No you're not, he is hopeless.
I think its because some people have never seen him play and just assume "well he is 204 cm he must be able to play".
Many of us know he cannot play and is nothing more than an oddity.

We got GC and Melb next, who needs talls. We only need 2 and all 3 will be back over the next 2 weeks. Carry on.

But seriously, how can when lose a player every week to a serious injury

Ignore the moon boot, he's wearing that as a precaution to ensure he doesn't re injure a foot he's had problems with for years. Someone I know talks to Hartley's dad on a regular basis and his Dad said that it's actually a shoulder complaint keeping him out at the moment, and that he may be back in a week or two at full training pace.

I seriously don't get the panic, we don't need any real defenders for another month yet, 23rd of June is the next time we need 2-3 key defenders, and by then Taz, Reid and Brown will all be available for selection.

If anything Bucks may have caught onto something last night, saying once Lachie went down our run and carry out of the backline improved dramatically.

What exactly are all the tall defenders doing at training? Unleashing a hoard of black cats on to the training track and running under ladders while holding salt containers with a hole cut in the bottom?

This is freakin' ridiculous!

Quick, toss some salt over your right shoulder!

Time to elevate Kris Pendlebury from the rookie list. Oh wait.... :(

Wish this was actually an option. Only 25 and a gun kpd. If we don't look to do at list rookie him next year, even if just for depth, it would be a shame.

Personally I think everything is falling into place. All of n brown, taz and Reid should be back post gcs, melb and the bye, who incidentally we don't need the
against. Swan will also be back.

That's the thing I was thinking during the game. Bad as it was, Keefe going down forced us to alter our structure and team balance, and we benefited from quicker ball movement from that point. It reminded me of how JPod going down in last years GF, appeared to be a big bonus for us at first, but it changed the Cat's structure and balance, and they kicked ahead of us from then on in the game.

Maybe, just maybe, it will be a blessing in disguise for us?

Taz could come back next week. A game against the Suns would be no more challenging than a VFL game. Plus we could sub him off.

If you want to look at things on a "glass half full" basis, Collingwood is VERY lucky that we get players back just as we lose others, so at least we get some fresh legs back.

Regardless to achieve what we have achieved so far without our best four key defenders is remarkable. Nick Maxwell however is a very good 'fifth option". Not sure who fills the other spot if Taz doesnt play but we have Goldy and O'Brien as options. Perhaps we throw Dawes back there and select Wood. Perhaps Ceglar.

What we do know is that Bucks is not afraid to select whoever puts his hand up.

Talk of Kris Pendlebury is a bit misguided. He is a very good VFL footballer, but he is smaller than Maxy, Goldy et al and wouldn't be up to playing KPD at AFL level. In fact, he shorter than Scott!

As for Shae, if he doesn't get a game this week - what the hell is he doing on our list using up club resources?

I'm not incredibly concerned by Sam Day or Josh Fraser monstering Maxy or Goldsack next week!

OK, thanks, Matty. Hope he overcomes the shoulder quickly but doubt he'll come into AFL calculations this year now.
Think Rambo will play next week.

Relax who are GC and Melbourne going to harm us with? Sam Day??

Well, this is what I thought, but apparently, yes, we have to worry about Sam Day, according to a few in the pre-match discussion.

Well, given that Josh can't outmark Peter Bell, I don't thin Maxy or Goldsack should have an issue. Actually, I'm pretty sure Marley would be ok on him.

I really hope Shae Mac plays this week. Just give him one game he is such a nice bloke and even though he isnt AFL standard he wouldnt be that bad against a young GC side. He wont be the difference between us winning or losing.

What about playing Cloke in defence?

With Dawes the main forward target it may be a way to get his confidence up.

So, for one of the two games all year that he won't have a high quality opponent you want to move a player lacking confidence (or just touch) completely out of the position that he leads the league in? (contested marking).

Nope, Travis Cloke plays full forward this week or I walk out of the ground in protest, this is like a VFL game for Cloke and Dawes, a chance to get 20 + possessions each and kick 4-5 goals and really build their confidence up.
