Honestly, I was shot down before the season saying this, but we still have not got a A Class mid in our side. We need them ASAP. I would be doing everything to get 2 A Class mids in the next two drafts. But who could we offer?

- Watson (quite a possibility, and has trade value)
- McPhee (I like him, but as a forward I see nothing more than a solid forward, we could get a 1st rounder for him, and in a strong draft it would be good!)

What do you guys recon?

Watson would attract a lot of interest but why would you give up your best midfielder?

McPhee - You are kidding yourself thinking you will get a first rounder for him. Maybe a few years ago, but he has lost so much vale the last 2-3 years. Would get a second round at best, he has ability but has not delivered.

A 1st round pick in a strong draft, for a solid forward? Thanks bombersno1, you have given me a laugh tonight.

i dont think knighter would put watson or mcphee up for trade

also if selwood came to essendon i dont think that he would be as good as he is at the cats because we dont yet have the quality players in our team to help a guy like this ,which they have at the cats ,he would also get tagged nearly every game

Who keep you out of the team, get the ball at the bottom of a pack before you can, get it passed to ahead of you because they are a better kick. All of that jazz.

Selwood is a gun, would love him at essendon I think he will win a brownlow. In the last quarter of this weeks and last weeks matches he was amazing when his team needed it so let's not try and use a crap argument to say he's only good because of the team he is in and is really a dud. If he was an outside player (TJ, Stanton etc.) It would have merit but now it does not. Still Gumbleton could very well be the next carey so i'm not calling this a mistake just yet and if it does end up a mistake it was because of bad luck (injuries) not lack of talent

i reckon kerr is defitely the go ..hard at it good skill just wat we lack

rhys palmer is better than joel selwood

Don't think you can substantiate this claim just yet.. Selwood is a premiership player and star in a star team. Palmer, although very capable, is an emerging player in a very average team.

On the topic, what we also need are mids who can lay a tackle. Missed way too many today

What about Heath Hocking? He's injured at the moment. Probably won't see the best of him until next year.

We just need to be patient €with the likes of Houli, Jetta, Myers etc

Watson has value and if we can get a 1st rounder for him, I'd take it and run. He is good but he isn't THAT good.

Yep, we read it the first time, no need to write it again word for word.

I'd say out of loyalty Watson is pretty much untouchable to any other clubs. He's worked his ass off to get where he is and I highly doubt we would entertain a trade with him, unless of course it had something to do with a Judd or a Brown etc. He'll be up there in our B&F again this year and I think it'd be safe to say he has plenty more years at bomberland.

Watson is an established player who is getting better each year, a pick in the teens could be anything, could turn out to be Bradley MK2

So let me get this straight. You want to improve our midfield by off loading our best midfielder. Yep, that makes sense.....not!

We need to make a big play for Kerr at the end of the year
No you don't, thats the thing.

Kerr will do nothing for your football club.

You need to recruit gun young guys. You will benefit so much more, rather than trading the house (which would include probably Gumbleton or something big like that).

You guys are heading in the right direction, you just need to make up your minds (by that I mean piss off the players who won't be in your next premiership side) and stick at it. Things take time.

We need a class everything atm lol. Ah well pretty good draft this year, Young rich goes alright:thumbsu:

Just one question here: Why would you think that a first round pick, any first round pick, would be guaranteed to become a champion mid?

Daniel Rich has all the attributes to be a class midfielder. No picks are guaranteed success though, all picks are SPECULATIVE to a degree, how speculative they are depends on how you look at it. Take Houli for example, was thought of as a risky choice, proving most observers wrong.

However I'll say this we do need class midfielders as that is what wins flags, yes our CHB needs addressing long term (especially if Ryder will be a ruckman), but our midfield is shocking. Look frank assessments of the team are needed and that is what I see. If players like Brent Stanton and Jobe Watson are the best two midfielders you know there is a serious problem. Not bagging those two players one bit, but they just should not be the no1/2 mids.

If there is any draft to pick 1-2 quality mids, the 2008 draft is the one, starting at pick 2- Daniel Rich (Subiaco):thumbsu:

Anyone know of any midfielders throughout the competition that are out of contract or wanting a trade at seasons end??
