NO WAY , Watson is a good player in and under player with great hands.....and he will be a great player too !!!!

we need a whole new ____ing side! the players had it too easy under sheedy!:thumbsd:

PLease, can we stop blaming Sheeds for everything? Any team, decimated by injuries like ours will find it difficult to play out an entire game, let alone win.
In Sheedy's defence, I would ask how many permierships we won under Kevin. He couldn't have been doing everything wrong!!

Why is Daniel Rich been rated so highly so early??

Apparently he won the equivalent of the Norm Smith in the WAFL Grand Final at the age of 16 and has been dominating in the WAFL this year. Can't really back that up as it is just what I have heard and haven't seen the kid play but all reports point towards him going very high in the draft.

Daniel Rich has all the attributes to be a class midfielder. No picks are guaranteed success though, all picks are SPECULATIVE to a degree, how speculative they are depends on how you look at it. Take Houli for example, was thought of as a risky choice, proving most observers wrong.

However I'll say this we do need class midfielders as that is what wins flags, yes our CHB needs addressing long term (especially if Ryder will be a ruckman), but our midfield is shocking. Look frank assessments of the team are needed and that is what I see. If players like Brent Stanton and Jobe Watson are the best two midfielders you know there is a serious problem. Not bagging those two players one bit, but they just should not be the no1/2 mids.

If there is any draft to pick 1-2 quality mids, the 2008 draft is the one, starting at pick 2- Daniel Rich (Subiaco):thumbsu:

Lachaln Hansen kangaroos, is a highly touted first round draft pick is failiing to deliver at the kangaroos and would maybe like a change, bring him to the bombers in return for a small player, Dyson/Slattery/Monfries plus a second rounder,

Also what about Greg Bentley from Port Adelaide, is a borderline player and would maybe love a chance to come home and cement himself in a growing team.

Maybe one of the WA kids, Nickoski, Rosa, Waters etc... hard tough inside mids that have played with the best. could also be a chance to get more game time with one of the biggest clubs in the country.

And although we have enough up front I would like to see a young forward come into the club, possibly a Beau Dowler or a Max Bailey (Both Hawks) as Lloyd and lucas may have another 3 years left. only speculative,

opinions/thoughts...??

I agree, without him there would be no ball going out to our running players. :thumbsu:

The only one I would want is Hansen, but geez I would not want to give up the probable no2 or 3 pick for him. A bunch of players plus our 2nd rounder for Hansen is possible.

Maybe we could give them Scott Gumbleton for Scott Thompson and their second round pick?

Why is Daniel Rich been rated so highly so early??

Because he has the kicking ability of Luke Hodge but is built and moves like a slightly taller Kerr.

He is playing senior footy for Subiaco, played the last 5 games of the seasons last year including the premiership and averaged about 15 disposals and 1.5 goals a game.

The equivalent of Joel Selwood playing for Geelong in 07 as a 16 year old

Stats for last year

missed about 8 weeks in the middle of the year due to U18's commitments

Sounds like me:).

surely we won't trade our highly placed draft picks this year.

We have got some great young midfielders from lower picks in the draft recently, jetta, houli, hislop, lonergran......

i'd hate to see anything go from 1-3 rounds. the more we have, the better chance of finding roughies.

I say trade players for picks if they arent part of future. Welsh etc...

I'm looking forward to James Hird's kids arriving at Windy Hill...

We will definitely have an a-class midfielder then!

Maybe we could give them Scott Gumbleton for Scott Thompson and their second round pick?

I dont think so. Gumby will be our CHF when lucas does decide to go, but until then we need him to develop as our third tall when he is eventually fit and ready.

Who would you give the Kangaroos in exchange for Lachlan Hansen. Possibly someone like a Slattery or a Monfries, Dyson even. What about Stanton for Hansen and a draft pick. thoughts maybe?????

we will never give up our first draft choice, would you get Natanui if we did (POSSIBLY) finish last or Daniel Rich. have wondered what other people have thought.

Lovett and McPhee would be two players I'd put on the table. Forget Dyson, as Hansen has value, Dyson doesn't

Agree with the OP. I think Essendon are possibly 1 A grade inside mid short of a v.good future midfield. Someone that can break a stoppage open and deliver well (Judd/Hodge/Goodes/Ablett Jnr/Griffen type) would be ideal i.e. Rich (hopefully not though ;)).

I do agree. Dyson may just about be on the scrap heaps come 2010, do the Kangaroos really need another flashy midfielder/small forward (Thomas, Campbell, Harvey, Grant). McPhee maybe, but they have Leigh Brown and he is playing ok atm. Not sure what they really need.

How the hell do you know this? You can't even say for sure if he will ever get onto the field. It would be irresponsible and stupid not to try and recruit a back up KPP in case Gumby never gets fit. What have we really seen of Gumby? He has played a handful of games and showed patches, but to bank the clubs fate on building around him is frought with danger. As I have said before, at this stage of his career, he is just another Courtney Johns, ie. Potential, Potential, Potential. We need to take into account that he may never play AFL football. I think we actually need to consider any offers (particularly first round) that are put forward, if not this year, definitely next. Another year or two of constant injury, and he s finished as a player.

I suggest you have a look at Nick Riewolt, especially early on. He had just as many injuries as Gumbleton. KPP's get injuries early on, that is due to them growing, Gumby has grown 3 cm since we drafted him. I'd be betting he dominates for a decade, and we will not enter any trade period for Gumbleton!
