Pies won the flag with extremely high quality forward instincts.
Mihocek might not scream your 100 goal a season power forward. But he has great athleticism and his forwrd smarts are elite.

Hill, Elliott, De Goey, Sidebottom, Mcreery, Ginnivan are natural forwards who play on instinct.

Tigers have three natural forwards. The rest are below average.
Elliot and sidearse are on last legs , mcc just a player as is ginnivan, let’s not kid our selves , they’re all dime a dozen . Best we can hope for is leppa leaves for WB

I see Kosi as an upgrade on last years Jack. As I think Jack should have pulled the pin the season before. If we had a coach who was willing to make the hard calls, I think Cotch would have retired with Jack the year before. I understand to a degree they let the players make the call after the success we had.
I think Kosi added to the team with a decent gameplan & hopefully improvement in skills, we should be pushing back up the ladder with injuries permitting. Will have to wait & see what happens over the off season, if we can get our hunger back for finals, or whether we will have a few years of rebuilding ahead.

Cumberland has not made it yet and Kosi could play back given our defensive problems
To me Cumberland can play, he showed that in his first year and at times this year. He stalled because as a result of having to do things outside his normal game, which is pretty normal for a kid coming in. Some of that learning was necessary, some to do with the defensive constructs of Hardwick and Mini. New coach with fresh ideas will hopefully allow him to develop further. Sonsie is in the same boat, Dow the year before. Gibcus struggled a bit towards the end of his first year. It's normal.

As far as defence goes, I don't think that is our real problem. Broad, Vlastuin, Rioli, Balta, Short, Baker are all very good. Young has come in as the Astbury type and is going very well. Trezise and Brown looked good and have plenty of AFL traits. Gibcus is back and is a star in the making. We had no firepower up forward and the ball rebounded easily due to this, and our midfield was pretty average at times. Most backlines struggle under those conditions.

Balta shows more promise forward than Gibcus, Balta can crash packs where as Gibcus can't.
Gibcus could play a more running third tall flanker pushing up the wing. Kosinkski can do the crash work. He is a good mark, a very good kick and he may need easing back in a bit rather than the heat of the backline.

Not sure he will be trusting his hamstring all that much so he might feel a bit of pressure just getting back on the park.

Taranto is not a forward. That’s been abundantly clear. His skills aren’t good enough.

MRJ is never going to be better then Hill I can nearly guarantee that.

Martin and Bolton are in my opinion the best attacking combination in the competition. Problem is that Dustin’s on his last legs.

Lynch is also in my opinion the best key forward in the competition when healthy. But also…probably 3 seasons max left.

Outside of these three the cupboards are completely bare. Hopefully we can see a Judson Clarke or Seth Campbell develop into something. But at the moment our attack is a huge weakness
So lynch is the best key forward in the comp and dusty and Bolton the best attacking combination in the comp but our forward line is stuffed?

Taranto has shown he can go forward and kick goals when needed.

What was Hill’s output before this season? I can tell you it wasn’t much more than rioli’s and he’s played 2 more years than Maurice.

Oh and I forgot Cumberland as well who can produce much better than what we have seen this season.

It’s not all doom and gloom.

Lots of people saying Gibcus forward , he showed a little bit the brief times he was up there , but he was recruited as a key defender & looked good when he played albeit a little raw at times

Balta Gibcus Young , that’s our defence for years to come

Let’s just bloody draft a key forward or 2 & perhaps rookie a mature age type to develop whilst Lynch & Kosi are the main men next season with help from Bauer & Ryan at times & in a few years when Tom retires hopefully one of the draftees is ready to step up

one way or another need to make the call this off season and stick with it imo. Don't want Gibcus to become another one of those nowhere men that can cover both ends but never really excel at either ie Miller. Give him a defined position and focus on making him a gun in that spot, has all the tools.

Exactly, half forward flank. done.

Forward Line stat that requires to be addressed is retaining the ball in the forward line together with contested ball. Hence one of the reasons that Graham excels at especially if we allow him to undertake a tagger role. We need to stop opposition sides rebounding off half back !

Look this should have been addressed 3 years ago and given the club consistently didn't draft key forwards and get them on the conveyor belt, its obvious the strategy is free agent. I just can't comprehend the club just drafted best available with every single pick between then and now.

Still, we're in a pickle in 2024 and it grinds my gears a bit. Especially with a new coach who will probably have a completely different gameplan.

Best bet is we have lynch and play one or even two undersized marking forwards. Koscizke is obviously drafted to fill that gap but its a bit like someone drafting a fringe player from us and crossing their fingers.

My suspicion has always been (and I have no proof) that they didn't think that both Taranto and Hopper would decide to come to Richmond. If one failed they would get the other and the picks that would be available for the one that didn't come across they'd use to address (what was then) our impending KPF crisis.

Well both wanted to come and they decided (wrongly in my opinion) not to look a gift horse in the mouth. It's the only reason I can think of that they didn't pick van Rooyen when he was available. Clearly now it's free agency or bust, Koscizke temporarily playing a Brad Miller role of filling in a gap and providing insurance for Lynch until we find someone better. Anyhow, having dug themselves into a hole it will be interesting to see how they get out of it.

Against a rising tsunami of Umpire free kicks...

We are the new tigers under Yze. Bring in more kids. Hope we draft a ready made mid and promising tall forward. I think we have alot to work with up forward and down back. Midfield will be interesting if we can get senior games into Green, Campbell, Smith

3 new recruits for the 2024 season - lets hope that they can get out on the field !

I cannot believe all the doom and gloom on here by some posters!
Our defence still stacks up well, and IF Lynch comes back fit and well and the new game plan (& kicking skills under Yze🙏🙏🤞🤞 improve, which seems a focus?) includes faster ball movement, our forward line will be fine. Midfield will be more than decent as Yze seems a specialist in that area.
Maybe the rose colored glasses are on but I’m extremely optimistic about next season. We’ve still got a LOT of classy players on the list.
And one final prediction, Blair has irons in the fire regarding holes in the list. Been to quite a few presentations from him and he’s years ahead in his list planning. He’s a gun

Gibcus, Brown and Balta in defence is exciting
Cumberland, Clarke, Rioli could be anything up forward.
Looking forward to the draft next week

Jay Schulz did alright at Port Adelaide and he was a fringe player at Richmond.
