I reckon people are underrating his kick. He actually is not a bad kick, but he is just prone to some errors. If he takes the easier options and occasionally go and try to execute the difficult kicks he would be awesome. I want Beau back bad, and I'll take him in any position, forward or back.

Who would you take out of our best 22? Would Ellis, Yeo, Hurn, Sheppard, Bennell and Waters all play in the same team?

Simple - can't kick, can't play.it will be very interested to see how Simpson uses Waters next year.
Simpson seems to favour good ball users in the backline (ie. Hurn, Bennell, Ellis, etc) and Waters does not fit in that philosophy whatsoever as he is one of the worst kicks of a football currently on an AFL list.
lol.Beau Waters = Luke Hodge + Injuries,
Shepard maybe, Ellis no way.Bennell Emac Brown
Waters schoey hurn
Ellis and Shep on the bench.

Waters has been a dud for a number of years now. Just because he has no regard for his well-being doesn't mean we should have to put up with him costing 2-3 goals a game due to his shit kicking.
Waters was an AA half-back a few years ago. That year, his kicking was outstanding.
I know it's a weak area of his game, but when he gets continuity it isn't.
Completely agree. In his AA year i believe his DE was one of the best in the entire league. The real issue with Beau is that he needs alot of pre-season/games under his belt before he can actually get to his best level of play and disposal, and this has been a huge issue given he is injury prone. He isn't one of those guys who picks it all back up reasonably quickly after a long to medium layoff.
Let's not get too fanciful. His kicking was OK at that time and he had far less turnovers but he still had a fair few. You only have to look at his style to know that kicking is not his forte as it tends to be high and looping.Waters was an AA half-back a few years ago. That year, his kicking was outstanding.

Hasnt stopped Priddis getting a run.it will be very interested to see how Simpson uses Waters next year.

It is a real shame we was out for all of 2014 as he was the most logical choice to take over from Glass as permanent captain.
He has now slipped down the pecking order somewhat because of his inability to get out on the park.
He will still be a 'spiritual leader' and have some form of leadership role you would've thought.
Perhaps a tiny advantage of his injuries – could it perhaps extend his career by a season or two? Could he play until he is 32-33? Watching him when he first came to the club I thought he would be cooked by 30.
i seriously doubt it. if anything, the fact he is still on the list is evidence of our soft approach to list management. we just don't seem to make the tough calls on senior players that the truly successful clubs do these days.Perhaps a tiny advantage of his injuries – could it perhaps extend his career by a season or two? So you are suggesting we should have sacked him because he got injured and that would make us a successful club?i seriously doubt it. if anything, the fact he is still on the list is evidence of our soft approach to list management. we just don't seem to make the tough calls on senior players that the truly successful clubs do these days.

Successful clubs like Hawthorn?? - Mitchell 32yo, Lake 32, Burgoyne 32, Gibson 30, Hodge 30, Hale 30, with the seasoned players Lewis 28, Roughy 27etc??
Sydney?? - Goodes 34, Shaw 33, OKeefe* 33, LRT *31, Richards 31, Malceski 30, Pyke 30, w seasoned players McGlynn 29, Grundy 28 etc etc etc...
Geelong?? - Enright 33, Stevie J 31, Bartel 31, Kelly 31, Mackie 30, Stokes 30, Rivers 30, McIntosh 30 etc etc.... (in the last few years have been the oldest list in the land and needed to let go the likes of Chappy, Hunt)
Freo?? FACT= Have the oldest list in the comp!! But I refuse to go on their website to prove it!!!!
*Does that top 4 sound familiar????
Next year, our oldest player will be Matt Brownlow Priddis at 30yo along with a solid bunch of 29yo, WATERS, Rosa, Lecca.
In 2 years, the top4 lists will be completely different and I like the look of ours.
We cut the head off the snake - delisted all but the talented group after 07 and started blooding the kids.
Its whats called planning for a premiership window. Finishing in the top 4 and having a crack at it over about a 4-6 year period. If talented youngsters push out the old- fair enough but they become depth if injuries strike (eg- Sewell, OKeefe)
Once you've got the core group, you can trade to fill in the gaps- See Hawks, Swans above. (Ellis, Yeo)
Whether or not we have the talent is a different argument but its definitely not smart business to start again and cut AA, leaders like Muddy Waters....
He's wrong on Waters but Hawthorn set the tone for ruthless list management for senior players that weren't up to it. As it stands we have much bigger problems with out list than Waters missing the odd season. See bit players like Hill, Wilson, Carter, McInness, McGinnity.
