Anyone see the Essendon game today? They are not worthy of a top 8 position and should feel fortunate they beat us. Hawthorn were so undermanned we should of beaten them by 5 goals at least, but the travel bug we were still carrying really came to the fore.

We should be sitting 9-1, with the Adelaide game being the only one where we were beaten by a clearly better side (admittedly playing at home). I can't believe how far we've come in a year and a bit, from 'worst list since the conception of the AFL' to being unlucky to have a 7-3 record.

No theyre not , and yes they should

We shouldnt be 9-1 though, we underestimated essendon and werent up to it mentally. They jumped us early and it costs us.

As for Hawthorn we did something similar, werent cherry rie for the game motivation wise.

Every team drops games to lesser sides throughou the season, and teams win-loss records refelct it accordingly.

No - we shouldn't be 9-1.

Essendon played very well and beat us. It was one of the best games of the year - but we lost it.

We are not going to win every interstate game in a hurry. It's still a huge trip, and still a massive burden to travel so far.

This side is very good, but realistically are 2 years away from their best. Give them that time, then maybe a 9-1 record will be forhcoming.

Pfft, thats about the response it deserved. We are above Richmond on the ladder and we played WC at "home", using your logic, why shouldn't we be 9-1?

Anyone can make an argument that they should have won games they lost. Melbourne, Collingwood and Freo would all feel they should have won their game against the Eagles.

By your logic, every side in the competition should be in the top 8.

You shouldn't be 9-1, you should be 7-3, which you are.

Yeah, I wasn't being sarcastic or anything. Unless you are a top side that has a genuine shot at the flag, you shouldn't be sitting 9-1. We are not that.

I don't agree. We are where we are, and by definition thats where we deserve to be. If you break it down-

We didn't deserve to beat Essendon the way we played, and simply didn't get lucky when we needed to. We were clearly outclassed by adelaide. Hawthorn caught us napping, and everything fell their way when it came the crunch.

As for our wins- Against Port, St Kilda, Fremantle and Richmond and Melbourne, we dominated for periods and really looked like top 4 material. Against Geelong and Collingwood we could very easily have gone down, but found the grunt work and a considerable amount of luck at the right time to get over the line.

So basically we've had 5 wins where we really played well and blew the opposition away for long stretches. We've had two patchy wins where we were good at times, but had to call on something extra to scramble the win.

Against that we've had one loss we were never really in the hunt , and two where we didn't do enough to guarantee the win and then things went against us. Thats to be expected, win some lose some. You can't be at your best every week, and given that we also jagged wins in similar circumstances against Geelong and Collingwood, I'll accept that.

These next two weeks will be interesting. We *must*win tomorrow, there simply aren't any excuses. Then, we take on a no doubt wide awake brisbane outfit, and i for one am really looking forward to that game. They'll be wide awake and primed after this weeks loss, both teams will be going into it fully psyched and ready- put simply if we're good enough, we'll walk away the best side in the comp, if we're not, at least we'll know where we stand.

Dont know about 9-1...we lost to better teams on the day. As for tomorrow, it's a must win. We win that and we face Brisbane for the right to top spot at the midway break, but that is in the future. All our concentration should be on beating the Bulldogs tomorrow!!

Go the EAGLES!!!

Chen, I don't have too much trouble with what you've said, but I don't really agree with this. We were well in the mix until McLeod blew it apart - he was the difference, just as how last year he turned a shellacking at Subi into a close loss, off his own boot.

Still, we are where we are, and that's where we should be.

PS: I watched the last half of last week's game again last night. I've never been to Docklands but it must be pretty intimidating for the maggots, especially when the lid is on. And that's the charitable explanation.

Most teams supporters would be optismistic and say they should be sitting 9-1 at this stage.

At the end of the day we aren't so we can't dwell on that too much, but from a team which had the worst list seen for a long time at the start of 2002:rolleyes:, we are doing pretty well.

No, WC lost two games against much weaker opposition, games they should have won. We lost two games against heavily endermanned opposition, games we should have won. Hence we should be sitting 9-1. I'm merely lamenting lost opportunities.

I would really love to see you make an argument for Freo to be sitting 9-1. Richmond pumped you, Adelaide at AAMI was always gonna be a loss, and WC beat you convincingly (not to mention todays loss).

I'm guessing you should be 10-1 now?

Nor do I, doesn't mean I can't lament our missed opportunities.
Yeah, and Richmond away and the derby were missed opportunities for us. So we lost comprehensively in both games, but if we played those games again, I would still want wins. And it's not like the Bombers won by a goal, they won by 4 or 5. So what was wrong with me saying 'so should we' in reply to your original post? It works both ways. The fact is, you win some games you think you have a chance in, and you lose some as well.

By your thinking, Brisbane should finish 22-0 because every game they lose is a missed opportunity, Port should finish 20-2, and Adelaide 19-3. There's nothing wrong with lamenting on missed opportunities but why have a go at me when I did the same?

We should be 7 wins 1 draw and 3 losses.

We shouldn't be 10-1, because we lost against Essendon and Hawthorn. Simple as that.

I know that we`re supposed to love our neighbour, but Kenny, you`re bloody hard to love.

Have you ever been guilty of a heartfelt belly laugh? No? I can thoroughly recommend it, makes you feel good. Get a life and try one.

You are a constant black cloud over our board, the day I read them and find a page "Kennyless" I will assusme that I have died and gone to heaven.

It was a stupid bloody post in the first place.

We don't deserve to be anywhere, except where we stand now, on the wins that we've had.

We didn't deserve the wins.
