We WILL make finals.

If we win against Port, Melb, and North like we should (should the operative word), the game against Adelaide could in fact decide whether we play our first final home or away.
.....and if we lose to Port at AAMI, the Crows game may decide whether we play finals at all.

The Hawks are in red hot form, will dispatch Port this week, and go VERY close to beating the Saints in Tassie the week after...........they then have some easier games IMO.

I think we will make the finals:

Non negotiable wins - Dees, Roos
Must win one of - Port, Crows
Hope its not another MCG massacre - Cats........Crows :(

I think we will win another 2 games and maybe sneak in as long as we don't get smashed in any of the losses - percentage is the key.

Results went our way this week. The Port and Essendon losses had me thinking of a certain Aussie speed skater... thanks guys for falling over!

At this stage I'm just hoping we can get there somehow and put up an honourable performance.

If we beat the roos, and WC decide not to tank this week and beat Essendon for us finals are certain.

It would put us 2 games and % ahead of 9th and 10th (Essendon & loser of Hawks vs Port) which basically means with 5 weeks to go essendon and port/hawks would need to win a minumum 3/5 games and most likely 4/5 considering we play melbourne in round 21 which is as likely to happen as richmond finishing 9th again this year.

Hawks can't afford to loss this week with st kilda still to come, if port lose to then we will be able to finish ports season in round 20, If port win the hawks season will be over with a loss to st kilda.

That's a BIG if.

Why would they bother to beat the Dons if they couldn't beat Freo?

They stand to gain 2 top 5 picks as it stands right now. Worsfold isn't stupid enough to risk that. Watch for some interesting outs this week. List management already began with no Cox or Kerr, but it will shift up a gear over the next two weeks. Kennedy may well get e rest and Le Cras may too. Don't want them kicking too many goals.

Our hope for the Dons losing will be the Freo game in round 21.

If we can win 2 games, 2 of those behind us have to win 3 to go past. The Hawks can, but the Dons would have to win 3 out of 4 (take out the Hawks game round 22).

If we win 3 games we will finsih 7th, and with any luck play the Lions at the Gabba (did I just say that?).

Pull off our third close win in a row, and roll onto the Dogs or Pies the following week. Not without a chance of a prelim final if we can just sneak into the 8.:thumbsu:

And it will begin with a crushing win against the Roos on Friday night.
There seems to be too many fair-weather supporters on this forum, some that believe that it's fine to jump on the bandwagon after a fantastic win and acceptable to sternly condemn players after a loss. Calling Friday night disappointing is a massive under-statement but thankfully in footy there is always next week.

No doubt we have dropped some extremely winnable games which would have put us in a much healthier position but thankfully we still have percentage and 4 points separating us from 7th from to 10th. We have earned that position with some vital wins against Brisbane at the Gabba and the doggies.

With a good win on Friday night we only need 2 more wins from our next 4 games with more than winnable games against Melbourne Port and Adelaide to come. Even 2 more wins from the remainder of the season could potentially be enough.

We will be there in September, no doubt about it and I'm sure we will surprise a few teams when it arrives. After all, we are only 1 win less than what we were this time in 2001 and we were unfortunate not to progress to the Prelims that year.

we will be playing beyond round 22 this year..keep the faith:thumbsu:

This Thread was obviously made before the Adam Simpson retirement annoucement. This is no forgone conclusion this match, North will come out like men possessed to win it for their retiring player. This will be one tough match, but hopefully Carlton, due to the negative press during the week re no intensity and poor disposal against Collinwood, will match North's intensity, and get ovet the line?

Agree, our form against North in recent years has been soft. This could be another one of those monkey off the back games for us .... I think the boys will step up this week

We did it against Sydney, let's do it against the Roos. By end of 2010 season we should aim to be back-monkey free.

Still some pretty big Apes there. Roos, Hawks, Crows, Cats, Dons, and Saints.

We have got the Lions and Sydney monkeys off (and to some degree the Freo at Subi monkey)......time for another primate to be dispatched!

Agree though that Simpsons retirement will just about push the Roos into equal favouritism for the game. They will lift for this like no other game this year. If we aren't at our absolute "saints game" best we will lose this week and potentially bugger up our chance at finals.
