We need to rebuild, that means we need the best picks we can get, that means we need to come last. This year has nothing to do with winning. Pick 4 this year and the pp are a must. I don't think we have a chance of coming last next year with GC in the comp.

Argggh, fug it I'll say it.
Bottom doesn't bother me. In fact I welcome it.
I am comfortable with where we are headed. But as low a finish as possible gives this talented group one extra gun to move forward.
I'll just bend over now...
This is a very sensible attitude and i would love to see Dimma keep trying all the kids and if this means losing games we may otherwise win and finishing 16th then im cool with that
Although I must say i really do like it when we win and would never want us to tank ion the manner carltank did a few years ago

And a sensible response.
Nobody wants to lose.
If it means throwing Griff in at FF in the last 4 games and giving Jack a rest so be it.
I am not put off by our ladder position this year. I am very heartened by what I have seen in the past 6 weeks.
Pick 4 will see us go forward far better than team like Adelaide, who are losing al their old guns and won;t know what to do going forward.

I just want everyone to know that Jack Riewoldt was pick 13 in the draft.
I also want everyone to know that Graeme Polak was pick 4 in the draft.

Then i want everyone to think how much it doesn't matter if we finish last or 9th it just matters that our recruiting and development staff do their jobs properly.

Winning is much much much more important just look at our players after today and after the game against port.

Trouble is, these so called kids dont see it this way. Look at our performances over the last 6 weeks, and those who have busted a gut and been instrumental in our improvement have been these so called kids.

If we want to tank, we need to drop the kids. :)

I agree
and if that means winning 5-6 more games thats cool but if it means running out of legs and having 3-4 close respectable losses and a spoon im cool with that as well.

Well said. Im happy with both. I just dont want the club to deliberately want to loose to gain a pick.

At the start of the season, Hardwick said this was a development year, where he wanted to get games into the kids, have a look at everyone on the list and teach the new gameplan. This year was not going to be judged on WINS!
After 2 wins against Port Adelaide (in the wet) and WC (at the G), all of a sudden, we are going to move away from this?
There are still loads of players Dimma needs to look at in the one's:
Hislop, Thomson, Post, Gourdis (if elevated), Browne, Dea, Grimes, MORTON, Polak, Rance, Roberts, Taylor and Webberley.
A few of these blokes have an axe over their head at the end of the year and we need to see what they can do at the highest level after dimma has worked with them. We need to clear another 7-8 spots for the draft this year. Therefore, in the second half of the season, I can see people like Dusty being rested to allow Thomson to play inside mid. Post being used instead of Griffith. Rance coming in for a mcguane etc..

We need to be smart and only win 4 maximum this year. Such a large difference between winning 4 and winning 5. Using last year's shallow draft as a guide:
Pick 4 would have netted us someone like Morabito/Cunnington, whereas pick 6 gets us a Rohan or Sheppard. However, with the priority pick, using last year as an example, we could have netted Griffiths and Koby Stevens / Ryan Bastinac... not just Griffiths...

More importantly of the 8 spots that will be free on the list 3 of them can be filled with top 30 picks rather than only 2 and in each subsequent round, we get a higher pick, which allows us a better chance to choose who WE want and not miss out on someone...
