Resigning Bucks shows Collingwood aren't going anywhere for the next couple of years; as someone who wants his cake and to eat it too in Lever, it's a pretty switched on provision.

Mind you it's likely to be bullshit.
Collingwood are paying heaps for Lever so they at least have a coach on field... ;)

You could have ended that sentence at coach and it would have been right :p

Do they see him as Maxwells heir apparent? Lever has a solid pointing at space game after all.

Same meaning I thought.

Pies have lacked structure on field & Lever would certainly help. They have been sliced open at times.

No doubt he is going. Player Managers drive this so much these days getting such a large cut. Worse thing is guys like Kelly are made way for knobs who have never played the game and frankly don't come across as advocating their clients about onfield opportunities and balance.

If Lever reckons he can plonk himself in Melbourne's backline and play the run off, 3rd man across in absence of a Talia and Hartigan types he is kidding himself. He is going to get smashed 1:1 as the key defender and that million dollar salary is going to look overs.

So if jake goes which seems likely although the crows don't leak a lot as was evident with McGovern

Who would be the best to trade with

Collingwood or Melbourne

Collingwood. Pick 6 and Maynard for Lever and 2nd rounder.

Lever getting added to the AA squad was a nice little bonus for us.

One thing should be non negotiable if lever does decide he wants to return to Victoria the club has to hold firm and not get bent over like it always does

Brisbane and GC have first two picks he will need to spend time up there if he decides to leave and we don't get a reasonable trade

If a deal can't be struck that is fair it needs to send him to the draft

Port did it years ago and it worked wonders for them they never seem to get bent over and if players are looking to leave they know the club they approach need to be prepared to trade or they stay

Because it's us. We do have a reputation.

This is the issue

If the club get bent over again, they have only themselves to blame

It is clearly time to draw a sline in the sand, hes good but not that good and high profile enough to send a message not only to the rest of the comp but their own players, hes not at FA has been at the club a limited time so we are being hard nosed just fair and reasonable

Port did it with Nick Stevens its now our turn

It's never going to happen and you know it.

Port had someone with the conviction, balls and stubborness of Mark Williams calling the shots. We don't have such a character at the club.

The club need to be called out on this trade, they got off the Danger trade lightly which a lot had to do wiith the fact he was a RFA and peopel actually felt sorry fopr Danger amd his life, not sure Lever will be shown the same courtesy

As much as we talk about taking a stand everyone knows that Adelaide is weak as piss when it comes to trading it's players.

Yeah, I reckon you're pretty naive too

Richmond offered WC more. And in fact complained to the league.

Judd didn't choose who had the most to give his club.

I was replying to a comment that trade compensation had nothing to do with it.
The poster said Lever would make his choice and Adelaide would be forced to deal with that Club.

My point was simple - Player Managers talk players out of choosing a Club that doesn't have the hand to get a deal done, ie: What Paul Connors spoke about in the video regarding Collingwood and the Judd trade.

Not once did I say money wasn't a factor. It's a combination of both - hence Judd went to Carlton, over Richmond and Collingwood.
