I don't rate Doedee

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
You have to be Truthful in this you don't rate but you need to add I rarely see him play live, 1 or 2 games is not enough to judge a player.
I believe there are a lot of supporters out there that have to watch him regularly that do rate him.
The only negative comments in regards to Doedee are from people that have never seen him play live or are basing the opinion on watching 1-2 games out of 31 games,
Would also be nice if he managed to get a full pre season in considering he has not completed one yet.

This x 100. :thumbsu:
Once his time comes, the Dude will be a Lever-like gun.
I've seen him a fair bit in the 2s and like what I've seen.

Talk on SEN ( believe what you will I'm just mentioning it). Essendon is making a play for Kelly if that falls through Lever will end up there. If Kelly signs with Essendon Lever will end up at Melb.
Who knows ???
So he will potentially go to the drug cheats?

Orazio anyone?

Yeah I Just googled and think I found the answer to my own question.

If we match the offer from the club that wants him then he can either re sign with us or we work out a trade with the club or he goes in to the draft.

I think if he wants out we will obviously match the offer then. I think we should try and get involved with the Ablett to Geelong trade. That's a trade that both other clubs want done and we hold a trump card that wants out.
There's no need to 'match', he doesn't qualify for any sort of free agency. He has a contract offer from us, and a contract offer from another club. If he wants their offer, he needs to be traded or drafter to them.
Just wonder if anyone knows the answer to a couple of questions I have always wanted to know.
Can a player nominate a contract term and amount before the draft and if so why don't all 17 year olds go down this path with a club?
Can a player nominate just for PSD?
And can clubs trade PSD picks?
If you've never been on an AFL list before, you cannot nominate terms. You can after that.
Yes.
No.

He's all business, just the way he should be and I like it.

Much better than say, a Damian Hardwick who parades himself around on all the footy shows, with that stupid smirk, whistling at journalists to move off when his team's winning and is a sulky, grumpy knob when his team's losing. Very unprofessional. I maintain he won't coach a premiership.
Well I am a believer that you need to be professional you need to demonstrate that you are confident and know what your doing but that there are times when you have to have some fun. No fun and people wont turn up for work. You have to enjoy what you do. I agree though with what you say about Hardwick and I don't want Don to appear like a clown. I think Clarko gets the right mix. Sometimes it's not all about business.

I've regularly criticised Doc Clarke but I do respect the humour and positive attitude he brings, especially given the tragedies this club has gone through in recent years.

Huh?

He could put any terms he likes on himself in either draft.

if someone takes him then they are obligated to meet them

It's not a complicated business
I am not sure he can do that for ND. I noticed that another of your comments suggests that he cant renegotiate. Hence my question. I don't truly know 100% what he can and cant do. How he can manipulate the whole thing. I was hoping that someone here might be able to speak with some authority and explain it to all of us because I keep reading people saying things like "I think". Then there is a disagreement based on someone's comment which isn't accurate.

I also dont think that Lever's money first decision has gone down well with some members of the playing group who have turned down bigger offers to try and build and keep a list together
Well, the sooner they turn over gun players who don't want to be at the Crows, the sooner they will find those that will.

His offer isn't lodged like a RFA, they can do it. It's not a manipulation in that sense. If they manipulated the initial contract then yeah.
You can say its not a manipulation but in my scenario above I am pretty sure that that would be a manipulation. Surely the offer than he is agreeing too to switch clubs cant be changed to some stupid amount and then have it balanced out after he joins the new club.

Nah don't agree. He's not employed to entertain us during interviews. He's employed to entertain us during games - which his game style does in spades, and also win premierships. He doesn't want to talk to Robbo! He wants to watch tapes!
Sounds like a few here don't agree but I still hold my view that I am happy about him being a professional but I also like to see the other side of him. If you believe that personalities don't come into play when you are on the big stage that's fine for you but I don't believe it. I want the club to be viewed as a professional place but also a place when people can have some fun.

Since all contracts have to be ratified by the AFL, you'd think a stupid initial contract might be looked at rather closely. Yes, I know - AFL.

Crows players are on record as saying Don Pyke has a great sense of humour and jokes around where appropriate. Has a good mix of professionalism and jovialness.

I don't think he should be judged solely on tv interviews answering inane questions from the likes of Robbo etc. He keeps his cards close to his chest in public interviews. It has people not knowing what he is thinking and second guessing. Very, very smart.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

What he's copping now would be incomparable to what would happen if players could sign with other clubs mid-season and it was announced Lever had signed a contract with Melbourne for the following season.

He'd be booed as loud as Tippett was 2 weeks ago every time he went near the ball and there would be a heap of media pressure on the club to drop him.
This happened a little bit in the NRL when player movements were known, but it quickly settled down. I'm old school and love the old 'die for the jumper' players, but those days are gone.

pfft, yeah right.

if he's any good why hasn't he gotten any games? Burton has cracked into Hawthorn's defence alongside three time premiership forward Jack Gunstan. Hawthorn won a few flags a couple of years ago, so Doedee must be hopeless to not even make our side.

If Lever plays hardball and wants to leave, he can go. If we can turn him into a gun young mid we break even and have a more balanced side.
I have said before, when Lever leaves, we are losing a darn good player. However, we have enough coverage there to off-set that loss and defenders are much easier to cover than midfielders and forward.

If you can turn Lever into a young gun midfielder and another useful player, then you have done well. For the salary he is getting, you can get two young guns.

I would be much more pissed off if we lost McGovern. Match winning forwards are bloody hard to find and replace. Defenders, you can always cover.

My only concern would be if he goes to Hawks who do not have a pick we would like nor the types of players we would be looking at. Lever would be a perfect replacement for Gibson. Just hoping it's not Hawthorn.

If it's Hawthorn, they give up Burton. Pure and simple. Nothing comes free.

Unless you're Geelong.

Melbourne have said that they seriously considered drafting Lever in 2014 (which meant using either pick 2 or 3) but the knee injury scared them away.

Roll the clock forward three years, knee comes good, Crows put the development into him and Melbourne are now (apparently) all over him. Without the knee injury he goes top 3 then as an unproven rookie. He is now a first 18 in the minor premiers side and an AA squad member.

If I was at the negotiation table I'd want 2017 and 2018 Melbourne first round picks using Melbourne's own comments agaisnt them...if he was borderline top 3 in 2014 as a rookie he is worth a lot more now.

If he entered open draft this year he'd go at pick 2 IMO
