As soon as it was reported he decided to leave based on the first offer from the AFC, that told everyone he was low in character.

Very childish to have a hissy fit over a first round offer.

I still hope he stays and sees the light that he is on a much better wicket at the Crows but as days pass, it doesn't look good.
It smells like a Lavar situation to me.

... With North having pick 4 this puts the pressure on Melbourne to come up with something that satisfies.

We are going to ask for two first rounders, but you would think if pick 4 is in the mix then North's 2018 first might be asking a little too much. I would think that pick 4 + pick 21 would get it done, but I would prefer Salem + pick 10. Even better would be Salem + 2018 first.
If it's North, North 2017 2nd and 2018 1st could be good. It will be interesting if Crows do angle for a 2018 first rounder as their main target (plus) if we do end up trading JL out.

To whom ?

Don't dismiss the MCG factor.

10 years at Etihad, or 10 years rocking up to the G ?

It's a no brainer. Especially when one team is heading south and the other has genuine elite young talent.

In many ways I hope he stays. I don't like young players walking out on their clubs.
Does Scully come up in conversations with your lot often?

If thats the case then you would have all the good players in Melbourne. Is the MCG actually a factor at all for players? Melbourne hasnt exactly been a destination club either. You couldn't even make the 8 this year, why is it all of a sudden the club that everyone wants to be at?

I'd suggest we've been the opposite of a destination club.

But if you listen to player managers, and I've had some access to Paul Connors, Melbourne is most definitely emerging as a destination club. Lewis chose us for a reason and Hibberd chose Melbourne.

Players at clubs know who are emerging. Lever and his manager would be infinitely aware of our list profile.

You may rightly think Lever is a mercenary, but he also wants to join a club that he perceives has a strong chance of success. He'd look at Petracca, Viney, Hunt, Oliver, Salem, Brayshaw, Tyson, Hogan, Gawn and McDonald as the foundations for future success. You're welcome to name North's 25 and under equivalent

I don't think North are anywhere near Melbourne. But I don't think Jake is moving to Melbourne thinking he is going to win flags. He is not moving there because he supported them as a kid, as I understand he was a Pies supporter. It says a lot when you will take a little bit more money to play for a club other than the team you fell in love with the game supporting. I think Jake is going to go wherever the most money is. All things being equal, I think if his manager said, look North have agreed a deal with the Crows but Melbourne aren't budging then he will take the money and run to North.

Then he really would have no substance.

Keep the bastard. ;)

That journo on On the Couch tells the panel that Adelaide want 2 first rounders for Lever and they all scoff. Then they ask him what he thinks the price of Gibbs will be, he responds with 2 first rounders and they all nod.

Yeah, yeah, I know, contracted/uncontracted, but they're all ****** in the head.

If your club was simply to only offer to Lever $500,000 does he still leave the Crows?

I say no. Therefore, I don't see the Melbourne Football Club as a destination club but more like a finacier.

One plays for a victorian team, one plays for a SA team wanting to go back to melb.. State of the obvious?

Funny, that's not how I saw it.

When he said two firsts for Lever, dunstall sucked the air between his teeth essentially signalling that's asking a lot.

When two firsts were mentioned for Gibbs, dunstall said "that's not gonna happen"

Same panel that spoke about what geelong need to do to beat adelaide and king had no idea who could match up on dangerfield if he went forward. They don't even bother to try and be objective

2 1sts thanks, even Gazza said it
I saw that.

He means well, but is a dope that almost ruined the club with his coaching appointment of Mark Neeld.

Thankfully, he has no say.

I know you guys won't see it, but Lever is not worth two first round draft picks.

He can't defend 1 v 1, he's slow, and is only a third tall and will never be a key defender. He's not what you guys thought you were drafting. :thumbsu:
