Not necessarily the same posters though. It's easy to put together an incoherent argument when you're randomly adding together comments from different people.
It's been a consistent theme.

Hardly random.

And for what it's worth I don't agree with the bulk of the Adelaide posters pushing these lines. Posters like Sanders.

At 21 and yet to fully develop his 195cm frame, I certainly see Lever developing the capabilities to be a rock solid key defender and not just an intercept third tall.

It's not uncommon for a player who's potentially leaving to have every conceivable flaw exacerbated by jilted supporters.

Isn't it strange that Lever is the only one left ... all of the other BIG names have stayed at their current club, nice work Jakey.

Paul Connors basically said what many on here have been saying for a long time - we asked about Petracca and he is going nowhere. He will never leave Melbourne. Ever.

I think the club should be bold and target a player who will really make a difference to our midfield with the picks we will get from Lever. Don't even bother with a player in exchange unless it is a petracca type - just get the best possible draft picks and then go hard after someone like Isaac Heeney with the high draft picks. Someone who will make a real difference to the team. We will have the currency once lever departs as he surely will - now is the time to use it on a bigger fish than Gibbs

Gone....and we'll end up with Picks 10 & 27. History shows that is the best we will get in this situation. Is it fair? Absolutely not, but it is reality.
If that's how it plays out I'll be booing Lever mercilessly whenever he comes back to Adelaide Oval.

2 more games Jake...don't stuff it up.

Yo, lately i've been thinking about a possible 3 way trade involving Lever. Its still in its infancy so don't blow your lids if you don't like it.

Lever to Melbourne
Hogan to Freo
Lachie Neale to Adelaide

Still not sure I value Neale that highly, but he is a proven ball magnet and would satisfy our need for another gun MID. Plus he's 24 years old so pretty much the perfectly age bracket. Might need some draft picks to go with the trade to even it out a bit, especially from Freo's end

Like I said, i'm not 100% sold on the Lever for Neale part, but the longer this goes the more i'm expecting to pay slightly unders for Lever anyway, just a sick feeling I get. And I don't see any of this years draftee's really pushing for immediate roles in the midfield where we could use an impact player while our window is wide open. Neale would for the next 5-8 years easy!

Great, so essentially they will only give us a Dean Gore type. Yippee.

I can see us settling for pick 10, another shitty pick and a list clogger.
Now that it's pretty clear we want 2 first-rounders, we won't even get pick 10. Melbourne will refuse to trade that. They will trade Watts for a high first rounder or early 2nd and will offer that and pick 27.

Said it a while back, there is no one at Melbourne I want who they would give us. We don't need depth.

Two first round picks or GTFO
So what then? Threaten PSD? We all know it won't happen. Our hands are tied. We'll get what we can which we all know will be not enough for a player of Lever's quality and upside.

Our hands aren't tied to that extent. Other clubs are interested, just not at the money Jake wants. Don't rule out the Hawks yet, nor the Saints and North. All three of those clubs have the cap space, although Hawthorn doesn't appear to have the currency and would have to work a deal.

It's in Melbourne's interests to get a deal done for as close to what we want as possible. We've said two firsts, now it's over to them. If Saint Kilda come in at 2 firsts and $750k a year, that might be enough to get Jake over to them. If Melbourne really want him, which they clearly do, they will want to get a deal done.

Yep. Not sure why there is such a belief here that we have no leverage. They want him, and they are not the only ones.

No reason that we couldn't make up the difference in contract if Saints theoretically offered their 2x firsts and Melbourne weren't coming to the party. Ie we pay $100k a year of his contract to ensure we get good value at the trade table.

Exactly, which is why Melbourne need to come to the party if they want to get their man.
