North has failed to land a big name for a few seasons now

Desperate times calls for desperate measures
Yep, I could easily see North going for Jake. What's Jake going to do? Worse case scenario they trade him in a year and get decent picks for him, especially as they will be near the bottom again.

Lever for any of these deals:
-Melbournes Pick 10 + Salem
-Collingwoods Pick 6 + Schranberg
-Essendons Pick 12 + Francis

St Kildas Pick 7 & 8 for Lever + Pick 35 would be good value massively in our favour but would take some twisting
Melbournes Pick 10 + 2018 1st would be fair in value, assuming they finish around same spot in ladder

A first and a mid-late 2nd would be well unders.

So here's a thought (not serious) People have talked about dropping him if we make a grand final which obviously hurts the teams chance of winning. So as an alternative- let him play. Then if we win after we get back to the rooms tell him and his family they are no longer welcome at the club - no after match function, no celebrating with the team, no being presented to the supporters. Just a medal and none of the post match celebrations. most hollow premiership ever.
That would not only upset the Lever mob but the players too....and you're getting the cart way before the horse which is not a good idea either.

Perhaps Melbourne could trade players like Watts, so we can grab North's #4 pick?

North: Watts & #10 for #4 & #44
Melbourne: Lever for Watts & #10
Adelaide: #4 & #44 for Lever

They have been piss weak, no doubt. The worst performed Victorian AFL club in history (other than the defunct Fitzroy). Stats don't lie.
A couple little stats for you JR:
1. St Kilda have 'won' 27 wooden spoons in history.
2. Fitzroy won as many premierships as wooden spoons (8)

No .. no, that in no shape or form is an appropriate way to treat anyone

Ive never been angry at any of my family for leaving Adelaide for various reasons. Ive also never been angry at any of my friends moving to Perth, Darwin, Gold Coast, Melbourne, or overseas.

Lever has given his all at the club while he has been here. Just like a job, people are allowed to quit and find another job. Many people take pay rises at rival companies. Many people move for better opportunities or family reasons, or whatever.

People need to realize the players at the AFC are real people, and we support their efforts but do not control their lives. They are not chess pieces on our premiership chess board, or puppets on strings. They are not living in the Truman Show.

To our Melbourne friends

IF we make it to the GF and somehow win

And the camera cuts to Bernie Vince in the crowd decked out in Crows gear singing the song as loud as anyone

Would you think any less of him?

I don't mind good, young players leaving providing that similar types are also leaving our direct top 4/ top 8 competitors in equal or greater numbers

Well I can only think of the one instance where a club swooped on another player that didn't want to be there, so history says it's unlikely?
There's only a couple of instances where half decent players have ended up following that route, especially recently, it's hardly a great sample size either way, thus no great conclusions can be drawn. Tippett is one, but that was more because we got barred from trading him, also GWS inquired re his asking price (ie we're considering picking him) only to be told they couldn't afford him.

Clubs on both sides generally don't want to risk PSD, players especially, as you just don't know what's going to happen, hence deals get done. We won't be sending Lever to the draft, we probably won't get fair value, but we should be able wrangle a reasonable deal from Melbourne.

Gee, you're going out on a limb suggesting things have been horribly wrong down at Melbourne. Was it the second or third failed rebuild that gave it away ?

But things have most definitely changed since Peter Jackson joined the club and Paul Roos was appointed in 2013.

If you're still an unbeliever that's fine. You're welcome to think what you like. Roos took over the statistically 5th worst team in VFL/AFL history and only 6 players from his first game remain on the list.

If Lever chooses Melbourne it will be for 2 reasons, the money and the list that's been rebuilt over the last 4 years.

He will want success. If Adelaide supporters want to suggest that he is completely money driven and has no other personal ambition then I'd suggest your bitterness is clouding your cognitive skills.

That's not to suggest he's right. Treloar went to Collingwood, but I find it hard to believe that people would think a professional sportsman has no interest in anything other than money.

But people vote for the Greens, so anything is possible.
Lol, of course he will join you for money only. You bang on about your list and that you've made progress yet your team is still struggling....that isn't even debatable.

There is nothing to suggest your list will be better next year or the year after. The Crows are top playing in a prelim and you want us to believe the grass is greener on the other side. ....turn it up!

Bitter about what exactly? We've shown we have lost players and have come out the other side successfully, and on history we'll do it again. Conversely the Dees have done what....improved statistically...OK then.

Lever for any of these deals:
YES TO -Melbournes Pick 10 + Salem

NO TO -Collingwoods Pick 6 + Schranberg
NO TO -Essendons Pick 12 + Francis

(Would take 2018 firsts instead of those players from Pies or Bombers. Would also take Pick 12 plus Orazio.)

YES TO - St Kildas Pick 7 & 8 for Lever + Pick 35
YES TO - Melbournes Pick 10 + 2018 1st

AGREE - A first and a mid-late 2nd would be well unders.

We want him to play and play well in the GF should we make it, we want him to help us win the thing..

Then we want to be able to show our gratitude towards him when he is at the after match functions by being absolutely silent when he is presented to the crowd!

Don't wanna get into the trade side of this discussion because it's clear Adelaide will want as much as possible and we will want to give as little as possible.

Just a genuine question about lever regardless of if he stays or goes. Do people think he has capabilities of developing into a FB?
Like it seems that because he has excelled so much at being the 3rd man in at such a young age people are quick to point out he can get beaten one on one. But how many 21 year old key defenders are playing at a high level in the AFL? Our own Oscar McDonald still gets rag dolled weekly.

Also how does his kicking and decision making with the ball stand up under pressure?

P.S having lost Danger Davis Tippett Gunston Bock as well as potentially Cameron and Lever of late I'd love to see you guys win the flag. It's a ripping site to see your ball movement in full flow and you guys deserve a flag.

If we win the flag I would say we would be easier to deal with at trade table.

That's the thing though it's not his one on one stuff you will be buying, watch when he sells a little dummy creates time and space for himself then uses his vision to hit a target coming out of defence which with zones and presses these days makes him valuable. When he goes to you guys if coached well he will zone off get the ball or kill it, and will hit someone up on or around half back to centre. Brings others into the game.

He's about to be paid north of 750k because he's an excellent 3rd man in. If you're going to pay him on his one on one defending skills you'll want to half that wage. His decision making is excellent his skills are pretty good.
