Ricky Nixon tweeting that the Pies might do pick 6 to Melbourne for pick 10 and Watts and we get pick 6 for Lever.
So a 4 Pick upgrade to Melbourne for Watts?

Can't see it personally.

Collingwood the clear winners in that deal.

That's the pointy end of the draft and the Dees would need be desperate to draft a player and absolutely certain he'd be there because in this draft after the first couple of picks it's a lottery for the next 10 or so picks. Whilst Watts has been a disappointment that's akin to giving him away for a packet of chips.
You are missing the part where we get pick 6

But still can't see it personally, Collingwood the big winners there, Watts for a 4 pick upgrade might suit us if Hamish is certain it gets a player we want but after the first 2 or 3 picks this draft is a lottery for the next 10 picks or so IMO. I'd put more value on pick 10 and Watts to us than pick 6 on it's own

Interesting comments on AA. Apparently off the record Lever has told Rowie it's a decision about money saying he's a 'working class boy' i.e he and his family need the money.

A guy like Lever will have a job in footy for life. May not be in the media but a guy with his footy smarts should waltz into a defensive coaching role at a good club. I think he will regret leaving for money.

If we win next week I think it improves our position immeasurably. The media won't be able to run with the "Crows can't afford to send Lever to the PSD, they need to get value while they're in their flag window". Win the flag this year and I reckon the Crows can come out emphatically and say we are prepared to let Lever go to the draft. Now come back and offer fair value Melbourne. Pick 10 and next year's first rounder which I think will be around Pick 13/14 as I see Melbourne climbing the ladder again in 2018. Maybe we send a 2nd rounder their way. Points wise, this would equate to Lever for Pick 4 which is on the money.

Heard an interesting take on the so-called unders the Crows offered to Lever,
It stems from the point he was offered above average for a 3rd year player for 2/3years, as the first offer. But the offers from interstate where over double plus an extra couple of years, so rumour/story was a member of his family or friend in Victoria leaked to the media the Crows first offer was way under.
Interesting slant on the story and it has some grounding when it was reported his first offer was 400K for a 3rd year player from the Crows.

But he is above average for a 3rd year player?

Yes that why the Crows offered him above average, but the Vics offer was way over, let's face it 800K for 3rd-year player, so the Crows above average offer was then regarded as way Unders and the Crows gain a rep for other unders.

Well i suppose you could look at it as he is an above average 3rd year player and they offered him an average wage for an above average 3rd year player, but i suppose thats where you start in a negotiation.

if Lever and Cameron both leave could the latter and pick 6 get us in the ballpark for pick 1 from Brisbane?
Or their 2018 1st? Test their confidence in their list.

If we prefer 2018 pick you'd think worst case would see it as swapping 2017 pick 6 for 2018 pick 6 and best case obviously pick 1

Would next years strength of draft make it worth that risk or would you bank 2017 pick 1?

its a good thought, how do the resident draft enthusiasts rate the pointy end of this draft as opposed to next years?

I know there's an SA kid people are raving about for next year but his name escapes me.
