If Cameron does go, he's now surely worth a pick between 7-12. He was our best player in 2 of the last 3 finals we've played, and still under contract. A 2018 1st rounder maybe from Brisbane? ....Dreamin'!
No draft pick are a lottery,he is critical to Adelaide and unless top 5 nothing is a guarantee. I'd do everything to retain him...we need speed and fed pressure

Soft spot for Brisbane
Theo is usually all positive for the club, so this surprises me. More of a Rucci or Vic media comment. I suppose this week it will be all about Sloane, M Crouch and Laird leaving at the end of next year... LOL

I don't think it's negative to say they're leaving. If we get value for them, it could be great for the club.

Heard an interesting take on the so-called unders the Crows offered to Lever,
It stems from the point he was offered above average for a 3rd year player for 2/3years, as the first offer. But the offers from interstate where over double plus an extra couple of years, so rumour/story was a member of his family or friend in Victoria leaked to the media the Crows first offer was way under.
Interesting slant on the story and it has some grounding when it was reported his first offer was 400K for a 3rd year player from the Crows.
$400K is a completely respectable starting point I would have thought

Agree 100%. And, IMO he's not worth more than $600,000 per season (in terms of our squad), so i hope we don't offer more than that. There's a reason we are in a grand final: we have a very good squad, and we can't afford to overpay, as we have many players deserving of higher than average salaries.

And, as mentioned elsewhere, Sloane + M.Crouch + Laird + Lynch + Smith + Atkins + Cameron (if he's still on board) + Gallucci all come out of contract at the end of next year, and most will earn decent pay rises (M.Crouch & Laird, especially),

While I've remained abreast of the whole discussion, this is purely journalistic license.

Theo says: "Well ... you'd think it would be their last game for the Crows."

Reasonably certain Lever is gone due to other things, but this neither confirms or denies Charlie is certainly going.

The whole thing is really complex, part of me totally understands guys like Lever wanting to go for much bigger money than we can and will offer. There's still the traditionalist of me that thinks it's so sad for the sport now where players will leave a side potentially about to win a premiership instead, more so if you are a best 22, if you're stuck in the reserves and want a genuine crack at AFL level totally different story.

If someone wants to pay Lever more than $800k+ then I fully support the club helping him exit with us getting the best compensation possible. To be honest Lever going hurts less than Dangerfield because we'd put 7 or so years of development into him, helped him become on the verge of the comps best player then he walked right then as we were turning the corner to become a serious contender again. At least with Lever we've not completed that journey so another club will now have to help him develop and then they deserve the rewards of that more so than Geelong getting lucky to have a top tier player in the league wanting to move home without even chasing the mega salary.

Charlie plus our second this year for Brisbanes 1st next year would be fair, and would get us Rankine or Lucosius which would keep our list strong for years.
Having said that I'd still prefer to keep Charlie

The thing is with Charlie, he's going to hate his footy.

He will be leaving his mate, a successful side and full houses at Adelaide Oval to a new teammates, a struggling side and empty seats at the Gabba.

It's football madness.
His demeanour on the field sometimes makes me wonder if he might be his own harshest critic, at least that's the impression I get from his body language when things aren't going well for him on field. I'm afraid the added pressure that comes with playing in a struggling team like Brisbane, on top of what he already places on himself, may end up being detrimental to him personally and professionally.

Likely to have at least 3 years not competing in the finals if he does leave, as much as I rate Brisbane's youth they are still several years off if all goes well.

The thing I've found so incredible here this year is how hypocritical certain posters are. Go back a year ago, he killed it in the semi final and looked our only genuine gun in that match pretty much. After the loss everyone is posting here how we need to get rid of Mackay and the likes as they will NEVER stand up in a finals match. Then you've got Cameron who wasn't killing it in the normal season and the same people are calling for us to drop him on the eve of finals when going on the logic they were using in the past is sheer stupidity since he's a 'proven finals player.' Kind of ironic that now Charlie's stood up big time, proving them wrong and even old Mackay hasn't done a bad job at all in his couple finals this year. I was on the other side this year, Charlie had been disappointing skill wise but felt mostly the effort was there just needed the execution to click and like you his body language was reflective of someone beating himself up inside from missed goals and such. Once you get inside your own head it's damn hard to get out of it sometimes, lucky for Charlie on Friday night it was perfect circumstances with a non set shot goal in the first minute of the game to ignite the team, crowd and most importantly himself. Got no doubt it started removing some of them inner doubts by hitting the scoreboard early. Hope he can play one more blinder, I don't want him to leave but if he helps deliver us the big one come Saturday he'll leave on good terms with me.

Thought exactly that after seeing his interaction with the crowd after one of his goals. It was Eddie-esque.

He ain't getting that back in QLD
