Why would a player want to hurt their new club?
Club loyalty is going the way of the dodo and the Tasmanian tiger.

Players like Lever exemplify what is going wrong in footy - the AFLPA has given players all the power. The club that overpays Lever will be partly shooting itself in the foot - spending a significant portion of its salary cap on a young third tall defender (which are not really that hard to find).

Despite the they might well slide at draft time, there seems to be up to 4 SA players who could well be in top 10 contention according to our resident draft watchers and if Lever, CC and Gov (hopefully not), that gives us a very unusual opportunity (for the Crows) to trade into the premium draft picks when they include elite SA raised prospects. The planets are aligning for us next year - we really should try to get amongst it.

True it wont help us for a couple of years but eventually it will be like having SA born versions of the Gov, Sloaney, Crouches. THen we'll get a chance to see how much the go-home factor plays in our player retention.
That may help offset the loss of Lever or McGovern (CC won't get us a top 10 pick). Sort of making the best of a bad situation as, given we're in a premiership window, we really want slightly more mature players.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Since the introduction of the expansion Clubs in Suns and GWS, player loyalty has taken a massive massive hit.

Lever is being financially responsible by setting himself up securely in the future. Cannot blame him for that especially as well as he gets the opportunity to return home as well and with a potential premiership medal with him as well to validate his decision.

Switched on post that.

Would we be top without Lever and Gov? Without Gov we wouldn't have lost at home by only 3 points against Sydney.

Also we might not be top after this weekend?
Gov was no more the difference than Camerons kicking, and our poor conversion rate was. Or Sydneys best conversion rate in 25 matches.

Sloaney Bleeds Crow Blood and has 2 x business interests in Adelaide. The Crouch brothers are best mates with Tex. Crows for Life...
I dont think Sloane will leave. Crouch Brothers im confident they will stay, however I would be interested in avoiding having their contracts expire in the same year.

The best friends thing is a bit irrelevant. My best mates are in Adelaide and I havent been in Australia for close to a year now. Quick chat on the phone now and then, guys are like that.

And yet he was the one who kicked straight and kicked 4 goals, so he was the reason we got so close.
There is no difference between saying Gov kept us in the game with straight kicking, or Govs easy miss cost us the game, or Camerons inaccuracy cost us the game, or the teams poor kicking in general, or Sydney kept themselves in the game with super accurate kicking.

Or it could be said that Gov kicked 2 behinds vs the cats, lucky Douglas kicked well for 4.0 or we could have been in trouble.

A lot of anomalies happened in that Sydney game to keep Sydney in it, Gov was just one of very few who kicked well

He's 19
He's an outside mid, so he's slight
His disposal efficiency is fantastic

His only problems are
- not fit enough to make enough ground yet
- doesn't get enough possessions

Once he's fitter, he'll get the ball more. I don't think there's any problem here ATM.
Bicks is right. He's too soft, doesn't go in hard. Ever since he sold several dummies against Richmond last year, he's gone downhill. And, we jumped to resign him for another three years at an overpaid rate.

How was our form when Gov was out?
Well we won the first 3 by a total of over 200 points including against top 4 team Richmond, and potential finalist Essendon, and Richmond has the 2nd best defense this season. Then we fell in a heap that coincided with a few other factors like Sloane being tagged, Jenkins returning underdone. Won the next 2 against shit teams by 180, then narrowly lost to the cats. Beat the saints and lost to the hawks.

None of our losses were a direct result of lacking a single player in the forward line.

Gov did his job that game, yes. Im not arguing that. I am saying stop looking at it with your eyes half shut.
What is your point? Should we sack Brouch, Eddie, Douglas and the rest for missing their shots? Sack Smith for his poor disposal? Sack Pyke for putting Keath on Franklin? Sack Talia for being slow?

Fact remains that yes Gov kicked straight. Had a number of other anomalies not occured in that game, Adelaide win. Gov is no more the reason that we were 3 points behind at the end than various other players kicking, umpire decisions, sydneys kicking etc. Fact.

My point Gov was crucial in our win. He was also crucial in drawing against Collingwood.

He is crucial to our forward mix and a shrug of the shoulders if he goes is nonsense.

Don't think our forward line was slow and top heavy and lacked forward line pressure with Gov out of the side?

Soft spot for Brisbane
Ok you want facts? Should we compare what Gold Coast got for an omeara who can't get onto the park compared to what Adelaide got for the best player in the game, both got a first and second rounder. Plenty more as well if you want more.
O'Meara wasn't a free agent and was considered potentially the best young player in the game. And they got a first and a second.
