Given that it has been alleged in other forums that you receive a secret commission from Rick Hart - I think your credibility is pretty close to zero.

I wouldn't go as far as to say Gav is getting a secret commission. I think he just is a deluded fan who thinks the way forward for this football club is to "tow the party line", and that we don't need to change anything, inspite of the fact that our club has taken a dramatic downturn in the last couple of weeks, and that there are some clear and obvious short comings in our board, the coach and our recruiting staff. The problem is our club has remained stationary while the other clubs have continued forward. The mediocre coach, the lack of pace in our midfield have been outstanding issues for quite sometime now, but they haven't been addressed.

Gav should have his name as Nero. Hes quite content to fiddle while rome burns.

So Belnakor, how would you rank the following in terms of the downturn this season?

1) The Board

2) The Coach

3) The recruiting staff

4) The unavailability for selection of Farmer, Peake, Johnson, Browne, Haddrill, Thornton, Black, J Carr, Longmuir etc

As far as I am aware the first 3 haven't changed since last year.

1) Its difficult to say if the board has caused a downturn, but they clearly don't rate Connolly's opinion on alot of issues, and that could be reflected in his indissive attitude to almoste verything.
2) Connolly has had the same plan for 5 years, and we are almost back to square one, cept with an older group of players. He is a mediocre coach that is simply a fact.
3) The recruiting staff were shit last year and have been for the last couple of years. Can you honestly think of a player who has come on leaps and bounds in the last 2 years? (don't count father/sons, they are montys). Players seem to go backwards at this club, not forwards. We must be drafting players who have reached the peak of their abilities, not ones with potential.
4) The unavailablity of those players was a problem, but our inability to cover for them just shows how weak our depth is. Peake being knocked out for a couple of weeks shouldn't have meant our midfield is suddenly full of slow plodders. Farmer being suspended shouldn't have meant our forward line has no crummers.

So Belnakor, you still can't follow a simple argument? Your post was about the downturn this year. You've crossed the Board of that list, but have ranked them number 1. I agree Conolly is a mediocre coach, but he was last year too, but you also rank that number 2 in this seasons downturn. The recruiting comes in at 3 even though Tarrant is certainly in our best players for this year. The fact that players such as Sandilands and Johnson have come on in "leaps and bounds" has escaped your attention.

The restricted unavailability of 9 of our best 22 (oops, 10. Left out Hasleby. Is there more?) wouldn't unduly effect the team however. Right. Okay. I'm not quite sure why it wouldn't, and I think everyone is entitled to an opinion..... but why not have an opinion which has some type of basios in reality?

Tarrant certainly was a good pickup, noone is disputing that. But we clearly have a serious problem with our midfield, and have had a problem for several years. We had this problem back in 2004 that our midfield was too slow, yet we've had idiots like broadbridge persist with the "big bodies" policy for midfielders. And now look where we are, we have a midfield that is slow for 2004, let alone 2007, when they are 3 years older and half a yard slower.

I wasn't aware they were ranked, in that case i would have it, 1) coach, 2) recruiting 3) unavailability of players 4) board.

Remembering we are talking about the downturn for this season, I'm still having difficulty in pinpointing the critical difference you see between the coach we have this year, and the coach we had last year? Also, with the recruiting, what is the recruiting coupe you think we could have made that may have halted that downturn?

Its not a recruiting coupe. Our recruiting has been bad for several years, we've got the same "workman-like" midfield as we had in the elimination final 3 years ago. How we haven't addressed that is beyond me. We literally have 2 additions to a midfield that was slow 3 years ago.

I think coach has been a problem all along, the only difference last year, that saved his head from the shop was that several players hit a purple patch (the wiz included) and we had a basically full list to chose from. Coaching is easy when you have good players and a full list, the best coaches deal with losses and have backup plans. Connolly is not that type of coach.

Right. But the other 10 don't matter.

4) The unavailability for selection of Farmer, Peake, Johnson, Browne, Haddrill, Thornton, Black, J Carr, Longmuir etc

I'll address them one by one

Farmer: Big loss, noone is disputing that, though the coach didn't seem to care
Peake: One pacey midfielder who was on the verge of being dropped is not a huge loss (or shouldn't be)
Johnson: Big loss, but hes played in our last couple of games and i didn't see a huge improvement in our game.
Browne: Who?
Hadrill: Didn't play last year either
Thornton: Ditto.
Black: Hes been back for the last couple of games, has had an impact but we've still got pumped.
J.Carr: ??? He hasn't missed many games.
Longmuir: Didn't play much last year either, week to week proposion anyway.
