Wearing a footy guernsey in public, yes or no?

Adults wearing guernseys is fine. Adults wearing face paint on the other hand.

That being said if you’re gonna wear one as an adult definitely put it over a shirt or hoodie.

Winter maybe
But 30-40 degrees in Summer, I will be wearing the Hawthorn guernsey without a shirt underneath

I wouldn't wear a footy jumper in the streets, or at games for that matter, but I do like to wear club caps, and I will take a club scarf to the game. Kids have always worn footy jumpers to games because they want to dress like their heroes. Having said that, dress however you like, there's no law against it.

I have more concerns with adult men wearing snapback caps to the side or backwards. Wearing a footy guernsey to a game is fine.

Growing up in Perth in the 80’s, it wasn’t uncommon to see the odd labourer rocking up to work in a VFL/WAFL longsleever. There was this brickie who would fashion a dusty Carlton jumper every time I would see him at the shops, with cement on the KT26’s and equal parts muscle and guts; I thought it was a strong look.

I’m all for the jumper wearing. As others have said, as an article of clothing, it probably works better with a jacket/t-shirt/hoody.

Some of the, um, more “expressive” punters who have sat next to me at a game over the years, are the grown men wearing the guernsey sans sleeves, arms informed by countless hours of lifting coke bottles full of sand in their room, whilst giving voice to their existential dread under the guise of #1 fan.

Footy jumpers... Imagine seeing these again...

I had a "hand me down, hand be down" duffle coat that had badges from the late 50s / early 60s sewn into it.
God I wish I knew what happened to it. It was probably the one coat from childhood that didn't get the sleeves ripped out of it from the barbed wire on the players race at Whitten Oval.

I've seen this debate across footy media and forums over the last couple of years and wanted to see what BF felt, some people think guernseys outside of going to the game or a no go, that it makes you look like a nuffie, others think that it's fair game.

What do we reckon?
Oh god no.

If you're over 16 years old, it's not even a question.

Appalling behaviour.

For so long I was very much a big no to this.

But I've lost just under 100 kilos in the last 15 months and have nothing to wear to Gather Round next week so I'm considering wearing one of the guernseys I bought a long time ago knowing one day it would fit, because it does now.

I'll still most likely not do that though and just go buy a polo from the AFL shop.

Wear it, you've earned it.

Please don't. It will undermine and diminish all your hard work.

People who you spot overseas or at international sporting events on TV wearing a footy jumper should not be allowed back in the country.

A national disgrace.
Agree 100%. Went to Lords and wanted to push the maggot drunk bombers supporter over the rail. Complete and utter ********.
