Surely you should be praying for rain given the drought?

I've been living in Ireland for the last two years but I don't miss the Melbourne summer, even though ours have been washouts. I much prefer what passes for spring and autumn. I associate summer with lack of sleep, excessive aircon, bushfire warnings, driftnig smoke and it being too hot to enjoy beer (hey I'm Irish, we like warmish beer in front of a pub fire)

When I first came back here after eight years away I used to love watching the clouds and rain sweep in off the hills.

Pissed down all day here yesterday in Kalgoorlie. Freezing last night. Lovely today.

Not unusual here in WA.

Yep, quite a bit of thunder and lightning around Geelong atm.

I live fairly close to Geelong and I only heard about two rumbles of thunder last night and didn't see any lightning. It just p*ssed rain, that's all.
By the way, we had some light showers this morning. Right now, it's Overcast outside.
Typical Geelong spring weather I guess.

Last night, We (Hobart) nearly had more rain than the whole of September last year(25.8mm last night), and if we include todays rain, we got 30mm in 24 hours.

We have had only 13 completely Rain-free days since the beginning of August. Though Perth is beating us. Only one day without rain for the whole of September:eek:

look at that blanket of orange and red dust

it looks like another Tourism Australia ad..... come to Australia, we have dirt

I was on the harbour bridge at dawn coming back from the night shift. Couldn't see the city, couldn't see the water, couldn't see either end of the bridge. Was like floating in some crazy red void.

Last Night we recorded 30(c) which is the warmest spring night on record for Melbourne since history began recording temperatures.

By the way, I am not one of those people that says "It is too hot " in summer and "It is too cold" in winter-that is jumping on the problem bandwagon-. For me I chose "It too hot" and I am sticking with it.

I'd like and want the temperatures to be way bellow average all the time with way above average rainfall. Our state desperatley needs it. They are predicting above average temps, with bellow average rainfall, a tinder dry state- a perfect combination for the bushfire that we have been experiencing in recent summers-. Great seaside conditions to go swimming but you have to feel for the people that live in the bush at those times.

I'm with this guy. :thumbsu:

That's pretty cool. I remember a few years back when I was in Melbourne during school holidays and they had those big fires on King Island, the smog in the city had an orange illumination to it - nothing like that though.
