Weaver, again, I don't think we need to go for another midfielder, we have too many as it is.Like I said in another thread, we need to take KP with every pick.

25. Dean Limbach (Carlton) - I am guessing they will want a key position player. There are heaps of similarly talented ones arounf and it is super tough to pick them. Limbach is from the old Carlton zone of Coburg. Is a big solid, hard worker who will appeal. They may want someone more mobile but Pagan tends to like his defenders to be big solid blokes.

He's more of a skinny, mobile foward, than a big solid player. But he is extremely mobile with a great leap and set of hands. Hope he gets snapped up

Very good effort and be it for me to be critical but it would seem your a bit harsh on JW Smith.

Kevin Sheahan reckons he's definately a top five pick and in the same class as Delideo, Tambling, Griffen and Franklin, Wanganeen could be a better comparison.

Time will tell I guess

The trouble with writing a post like this is that it reduces your credibility to zilch! Deluca is 17 and Ruckmen don't reach their full potential till their mid twenties. Club recruiters predict this kid will become a dominant force in time.
But you don't rate him Evo, it's a good thing your not making your clubs recruiting decisions.

I'm not really that fussed whether you rate my creditbility to tell the truth pieman1.I didn't write it to gain or lose credibilty.I was just expressing my opinion on one of the draftees.Thats what this forum is for isn't it?

I've seen the guy play quite a few games.I'm also well aware that ruckman come on later.Whats that got to do with the price of fish.I can still compare him to other 17 year old ruckman, and to other ruckmen from other draft years.

Feel free to disagree with me by all means,it's not an exact science.I just don't think he's a good enough player to warrant a top 10 pick and I hope Richmond don't use their pick #12 on him.

Instead of attacking me why don't you tell us what you like about him.

In normal circumstances you have to go early to get a key position player or risk missing out. This year I think things are a little bit topsy-turvy. I think there is a lack of quality midfielders, particularly quick ones and very few of the midfielders really are goal kickers.

On the other hand there are literally 20 fairly similar key position types who are all very even and not real stand-outs. There will be little difference between a key position guy at 22 and one at 52. Every chance that some of the guys who fall through to the rookie list will outperform some of the KP guys taken in the 30s.

For me that will be the most interesting thing in this draft when we look back on it in 3-4 years time.

Can we have pick 38 back please.

cant see deluca going at 9. but thats by opinion.

just wondering if someone could help me out. when i was watching the state carnival, a guy that looks similar to danny jacobs (shape of face + ears) played alright. it was either ben sharp or matt little. for some reason i keep getting them confused. does anyone the one im thinking of?

Your draft didn't have the result I was hoping for but nonetheless I appreciate the effort. I'm only really interested this year because of one player but I find the amount of knowledge you guys have about these kids to be remarkable.
With the exception of one of those KP players you were talking about I hope the draft doesn't make you look silly. Good work.

i thought id just offer you some help with the pick outside of 60... Fremantles will be a young sacred heart lad named Jack Juniper, they are keen on him, ring him a bit, he is a tall forward and can pinch hit in the ruck too... i see him as an ideal replacement for Simmonds. He has a big leap and good skills for a big man, wont mind moving back to perth either as he use to live their as a kid and apparently still has plenty of frineds over there!

I like your thinking (although admittedly I know little about all the candidates, I am only going off what I read everywhere). My only comment is that most people see JD Smith as being available much later in the draft, might not be worth a pick 20. I think we probably won't be using pick 68 as well.

Top effort Weaver.

I'll tell you this though - as a Hawthorn supporter I would be absolutely over the moon to get both Griffen and Tambling. However, there is NO CHANCE of Tambling lasting until pick 5.

The top 3 should be Deledio, Tambling and Griffen - not sure on the order but none of them will last until 5 unless two clubs stuff up.

from the oakleigh chargers point of view, you have sharp goin at 37 (many thought early he was first round for sure.) then you have gilham at 43 before bain. you have bain at 54 when most others think he will go early to mid second round. gilham should probably not go until the 50's. anyones thoughts?

Great Effort Weaver especially this year. I think after pick 6 (from 7 to 20) its anyones guess where as last year you could list the first 14 and get it right 13 out of the 14.

I would question however Egan as Essendons pick. Depends if they go for a need or the best player. I can understand your logic though being an Essendon need. 14 I feel is a bit high for Egan.
Glad to see you have Willets in the 13 to 20 bracket rather than 6 or 7 where other people have him.
Also agree with Judda - Bain better than Gilham. Weaver may be clouded by the prelim where Gilham was great early but was only on Easterns fourth best tall.

Also on the 'Orangepeople's' comment on Deluca. You maybe right about whether Deluca is worth pick 9, but I can tell you on good authority that I can confirm what has been said on this site a number of times in that Carlton is after Deluca with their first round choice.

Paulmac 21 - Way to high for Jesse D. Needs to kick longer then 40 mtres consistently to go that high. Agree with 55 plus.

My thinking is that there is such a big group of even key position types that clubs might decide not to bother on them in that 10-25 range. The guy you get in that group is going to be much the same as the one at 30. Therefore clubs might jump in to get different types of players before they go and leave KP types until later.

I agree that Bain is better than Gilham. My thinking was that Gilham is one of the best in that medium-tall category like Bizzell, Arcer and co. Whereas Bain wouldn't be amongst the top group of midfielders. So clubs taking other midfielders might push Bain down.

He might not be worth pick 9 but he will go before pick 25. If a Carlton want him they have to spend pick 9. They are not in a position to barter and pay a 'real' price of 16.

Yep I reckon Crows have C Wood pencilled in at 8 and Carlton De Luca at 9. Hawks obviously want one of these 2 rucks and that is why they up-traded for #7. My tip is:

but i can see where your coming from, he does have some deficenties in his game!

egan is not a 1st rounder, he is to inconsitate! you'll be surprised how much recruiters value the championships to see players under pressure and on the big stage!

dermie was pretty clear on SEN that tambling and deledio would be the first 2 to go.

not sure what u can make of that, maybe the hawks rate tambling highly?

Weaver - fair call on your replies.

One other - i think Knights from Eastern is a fair fit at 30ish, but apparently his injuries are causing trouble and you may see clubs shying away. Shame if that was the case as he can play.

Just a point on Deluca. He is no certainty to nominate for the draft. He still has a year to play of under 18's and is worried about having to move interstates at 17. Alot will depend on what adelaide and carlton say to him about who will draft him. Basically wants to make sure adelaide won't take him at 8.
