So. What’s everyone’s thinking re week 1 schedule? I know matchups not final but would it likely be
SCG Thursday night
Gabba Saturday night
Adelaide oval Friday night
MCG 320pm Sat arvo

If GWS get home that would be Sat arvo and MCG Friday night?

If it's Swans v Giants it will most likely be Thursday, especially if the AFL want to play it at Accor Stadium.
The NRL has two final round matches scheduled there for the Friday and Saturday.

If we picked today's winners based on who is currently higher on the ladder, then my Week 1 prediction would be:

Thursday 7.30pm Sydney v Geelong @ SCG
Friday 7.40pm Brisbane v Western Bulldogs @ GABBA
Saturday 3.20pm (or 4.35pm) Hawthorn v Carlton @ MCG
Saturday 7.30pm Port Adelaide v GWS Giants @ Adelaide Oval

I'll have a guess...

Thursday night - Sydney Swans v GWS Giants SCG
Friday night - Port Adelaide v Geelong - Adelaide Oval
Saturday afternoon or twilight - Western Bulldogs v Hawthorn - MCG
Saturday night - Brisbane Lions v Carlton or Fremantle GABBA

The MCG game may be moved to Friday or Saturday night if the AFL thinks that will draw 90,000 like the 2016 semi final.
Other 3 games will be sell outs regardless of when they are fixtured.

Geelong v Port at the G a sell out? Highly doubt it.

Dogs v Hawks a certain full house.

Thursday night Swans v GWS
SCG
Friday night Dogs v Hawks MCG
Saturday twilight Cats v Poort MCG
Saturday night Lions v Freo Gabba

The 6th v 7th winner won't get an extra day's break over the 2nd v 3rd loser.

Looks like a lock now.

EF- Bulldogs v Hawks
QF- Swans v Giants
QF Port v Cats

EF- Lions v Blues or Dockers

It's unlikely, but Port could still drop to fourth if they get absolutely walloped by Freo. It wouldn't have to even be that close to being the biggest margin (or even the second biggest margin) of the round, put it that way.

The Dogs V Hawks EF will be an awesome match.
The 2016 Dogs v Hawks SF intro is arguably one of the best 7 intro’s ever.

You could play that EF on Thursday (like Eagles v Dogs did in 2016) and it will draw 90,000 plus. There is absolutely nothing surer in my mind

And then you have the scenario that a team that finished 6th or 7th has an extra 2 days break over a team that finished top 4. Would be totally unfair
