Ok guys so this is the final attempt before the draft. Again had a go at doing a top 50 (with brief descriptions for the top 10). Anyway I've tried to include bids, etc. where they may fall.

Hopefully I've done your side justice, please let me know if you think there's a particular type of player your team may be after (if I've missed it) and I'll adjust it accordingly at some point.

Pick 1 – Essendon – Hugh McCluggage
Still seems to be a 3 horse race between McCluggage, McGrath and Setterfield. Personally think McCluggage fills the greatest need for the Bombers as a goal-kicking fielder, though Bomber fans will get a gun player regardless of which of the 3 is called out on draft night.

Pick 2 – Greater Western Sydney – Andrew McGrath
This pick will ultimately depend on what the Bombers do at Pick 1, if he makes it through GWS will snatch McGrath as the view for them seems to be that he would be an ideal replacement for Heath Shaw. If McGrath is taken by Essendon they may look to Ben Ainsworth or Tim Taranto.

Pick 3 – Brisbane – Ben Ainsworth
They may also look at Lions supporter Sam Petrevski-Seton here, but given Ainsworth has expressed a desire to play for the Lions they’d be foolish to overlook him given their retention issues in recent years. Fills a requirement as well, as a tough small-forward/midfielder. Again depending what happens with the first two picks they could see Hugh McCluggage slide to them.

Pick 4 – Gold Coast – Tim Taranto
They could also go for Will Brodie here, though I think Taranto’s scoreboard impact and output series sees him win out here. Will likely start off as a high half-forward but will eventually move into the midfield full-time.

Pick 5 – Gold Coast – Jack Bowes (bid by Carlton matched)
Think the Blues will bid on Bowes here with Gold Coast most definitely matching. He could also be bid on by the Lions given he is a Queenslander and there would be no “go home”. Adds class and ball-winning ability to the Suns midfield. Will be a key player for them going forward given the losses of Jaeger O’Meara and Dion Prestia, as well as Gary Ablett not far from retirement (or from moving back to the Cats if the rumours are true).

Pick 6 – Greater Western Sydney – Will Setterfield (bid by Carlton matched)
Think SOS would have a fair idea about Setterfield after his time with GWS, and I anticipate he’d bid on him year. Setterfield adds to what is an already frighteningly talented midfield group at the Giants.

Pick 7 – Carlton – Sam Petrevski-Seton
While they could go after Will Brodie here to help Cripps out on the inside, SPS probably fills a slightly greater need for the Blues given their lack of outside run and carry in the midfield. Plenty of inside grunt available later in the draft as well.

Pick 8 – Fremantle – Griffin Logue
Tim English would have to be considered here, as would Sam Petrevski-Seton (if available) but I think Logue fits the Dockers needs to a tee. They need a key defender to take over from the likes of Michael Johnson and teachers pet Zac Dawson.

Pick 9 – Gold Coast – Will Brodie
If he makes it this far Brodie would be an ideal selection for the Suns, given they need to rebuild their midfield once again. He was touted as a top 5 selection earlier in the year, however injuries and a drop in form sees him fall to the Suns.

Pick 10 – Sydney – Jy Simpkin
If Griffin Logue is available I fully expect the Swans to jump at him here, but Simpkin fills a hole in the Swans list with his speed and class through the midfield and up forward.

Pick 11 – Gold Coast – Tim English

Pick 12 – North Melbourne – Oliver Florent

Pick 13 – West Coast – Jack Scrimshaw

Pick 14 – Greater Western Sydney – Harry Perryman (bid by Adelaide matched)

Pick 15 – Adelaide – Daniel Venables

Pick 16 – Port Adelaide – Jarrod Berry

Pick 17 – Brisbane – Shai Bolton

Pick 18 – Port Adelaide – Will Hayward

Pick 19 – Western Bulldogs – Todd Marshall

Pick 20 – Sydney – Alex Witherden

Pick 21 – Essendon – Josh Battle

Pick 22 – Brisbane – Jordan Gallucci

Pick 23 – Brisbane – Sam Powell-Pepper

Pick 24 – St Kilda – Josh Rotham

Pick 25 – Greater Western Sydney – Harrison Macreadie (bid by Geelong matched)

Pick 26 – Geelong – Brennan Cox

Pick 27 – Carlton – Patrick Kerr

Pick 28 – Greater Western Sydney – Zach Sproule (bid by Western Bulldogs matched)

Pick 29 – Western Bulldogs – Jordan Ridley

Pick 30 – Richmond – Jonty Scharenberg

Pick 31 – Collingwood – Ryan Garthwaite (bid not matched by Greater Western Sydney)

Pick 32 – Essendon – Josh Begley

Pick 33 – Port Adelaide – Willem Drew

Pick 34 – Port Adelaide – Jack Graham

Pick 35 – North Melbourne – Cedric Cox

Pick 36 – Collingwood – Callum Brown (matched bid by North Melbourne)

Pick 37 – North Melbourne – Dylan Clarke

Pick 38 – West Coast – Zac Fisher

Pick 39 – Fremantle – Myles Poholke

Pick 40 – St Kilda – Brendan Parfitt

Pick 41 – Geelong – Luke Ryan

Pick 42 – Brisbane – Jacob Allison (matched bid by Fremantle)

Pick 43 – Fremantle – Jack Maibaum

Pick 44 – Essendon – Isaac Cumming (bid not matched by Greater Western Sydney)

Pick 45 – Brisbane – Declan Watson (bid by Geelong matched)

Pick 46 – Geelong – Corey Lyons

Pick 47 – Adelaide – Sam Walker

Pick 48 – Sydney – Bailey Morrish

Pick 49 – Melbourne – Kobe Mutch (bid not matched by Greater Western Sydney)

Pick 50 – Collingwood – Josh Daicos (matched bid by Carlton)

Kind of based on Brisbane needing some speed. It's a very, very rough first go. Won't be updating for a couple of months.

Hey guys so here goes again. I'll have a go at doing the top 20-25ish picks. I'll update with explanations at a later date if I have the time, but I'm extremely busy with uni work and will be until the semester ends. Again assuming I have the time I'll update this post after the trade/free agency period. As for right now I'll be using the following predicted final ladder order:
1. Sydney
2. Adelaide
3. Geelong
4. Hawthorn
5. Greater Western Sydney
6. Western Bulldogs
7. West Coast
8. North Melbourne
9. St Kilda
10. Melbourne
11. Port Adelaide
12. Collingwood
13. Richmond
14. Gold Coast
15. Carlton
16. Fremantle
17. Brisbane
18. Essendon

As always any comments and/or criticism is welcome but please remember to keep it constructive and respect others opinions. As I've said previously I'm no expert so take this at face value. Anywhere, here goes...
Pick 1 - ESS - Hugh McLuggage
Pick 2 - GCS - Jack Bowes (Assumed bid by Brisbane here)
Pick 3 - BRI - Sam Petrevski-Seton
Pick 4 - FRE - Todd Marshall
Pick 5 - CAR - William Brodie
Pick 6 - GWS - Harry Perryman (Assumed bid by Richmond here)
Pick 7 - GWS - Will Setterfield (Assumed bid by Richmond here)
Pick 8 - RIC - Andrew McGrath
Pick 9 - PTA - Jack Scrimshaw
Pick 10 - STK - Ben Ainsworth
Pick 11 - GCS - Brad Scheer (Assumed bid by North Melbourne here)
Pick 12 - GWS - Kobe Mutch (Assumed bid by North Melbourne here)
Pick 13 - NTH - Daniel Venables
Pick 14 - WCE - Tim English
Pick 15 - WBD - Tim Taranto
Pick 16 - HAW - Jordan Gallucci
Pick 17 - ADE - Tim Taranto
Pick 18 - SYD - Dylan Clarke
Pick 19 - ESS - Joshua Battle
Pick 20 - BRI - Shai Bolton
It's gonna be real weird having to share Taranto with Adelaide.

even tho NN went down, english won't help us out at all. English tap work needs a lot of work and physically he needs a few preseasons in the gym. Lycett is still have a good ruckmen as back up options for more than half a decade still. We are better off going building our midfield. someone like scharenburg, drew, tarato or SPP would be my preference

Don't think you need English at all.
Naitanui and Lycett are easily of of the best ruck duos in the comp. I think you guys will take rotham or SPP

With Naitanui out for probably all of next year, taking Goddard with a later pick wouldn't hurt.

Yea love Shai Bolton but his kicking can be pretty wayward, so wouldn't go that early on him.
If he can his set shot routine working better, then would look at it.
But he keeps missing easy goals at colts level.

Shai got 7 goals straight today.

I'm with you on that Shai will not go that high, kicked 7 in colts yesterday but many of his 18s better players are now being blooded or tested in reserves and league .

'McCluggage' is spelt wrong in the poll.
Well spotted, it won't let me edit it unfortunately :/ was half asleep when I was making this thread.

Drew way too high for mine.
Interesting read

Brodie at 4/5 for us would be an absolute dream WEEVZ lets hope you're on the money.

Could see SPS to Brisbane (if rumours of him liking Brisbane Lions are true) and McClugglord to Bombers. Freo and Marshall makes sense but not sure they'll go this route with McCarthy on his way.

Nevertheless, Brodie will be a star and play Round 1 so this is my favourite phantom scenario yet.

Both setterfield and perryman being bid on that early isn't likely to happen. Hopper had a vastly superior draft year to both and didn't get bid on until 7 and Kennedy in the teens despite everyone suggesting that they will both be bid on with essendons first. Mutch will probably attract a bid in the 20s along with macreadie

Fair enough, it's all hypothetical at this point. I'll be making tweaks later on in the year, cheers for the suggestions.

Agreed. It seems teams aren't particularly willing to bid early. I see it as a combination of not spending as much time scouting academy players (heard that Essendon put almost no work into them last year) and also not wanting it to seem like they are taking their 2nd or 3rd choice player with a high pick.

I'd be surprised if anyone besides Bowes gets bid on in the top ten.

Also the risk of getting a player you didn't actually want for the sake of driving up the price.
