Round 6 saw Gold Coast "kick the year" versus GWS, scoring 20.14 in 2014. This is the third successive season a team has achieved this.

Here's one that will test Roger.

In the WCE eagles game of the 9 goalscorers for the WCE, for 6 of them it was their first goal of the season ( in round 6 and not the usual rounds 1-3).

Would the Blues' last quarter of 8.3.51 being added to their 3/4 time score of 2.7.19 be about the biggest increase from such a low score in actual terms? Massive reversal of game play, seeing such a flood of scoring coming in that last quarter. I know from a percentage perspective it would not be the most.

Second highest ever final term following a three quarter time score of 19 or less.

Tony Ongarello kicked six goals, in what must have been one of those old Western Oval windy days....with the Dogs being over-run in the last quarter by the Lion's tide of 8.6 in that last quarter. He's also the last player i think to kick a goal with a place kick in the VFL.

Strangely, the Pies have been involved in some really odd quarters of footy this year. They had the highest ever scoring combined last quarter in games against Richmond earlier this year, they played the most stultifying crap footy a couple of weeks ago with just 1.3.9 to North's 0.4.4 in perfect sunny conditions at the 'G, and now last night's absolute score-fest in the last quarter. Just 94 points were scored up to 3/4 time, yet another 80 were added in that last quarter. Blues 8.3.51 to the Pies 4.5.29. From memory either last year or the year before, a similar thing happened in a Queens Birthday game against the Dees....another big scoring last quarter after holding the Dees to very little up till then. Collingwood are a hard side to work out to be honest.

That would be rather unique too, pity that missed out by just a point.
Oh sorry, I mixed up the final margin with the half time score.

It was a stupid oversight, not a dig at the Saints fans at all, sorry.

I've only just discovered this thread, so I have'nt read every page but has anyone mentioned this:
http://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1991/111219910420.html
Where both teams were 9.1 at quarter time. Possible highest quarter time score for teams that were level ?
or this:
http://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1934/041519340630.html
Where Collingwood kicked 3.3 in each quarter
Just putting them out there

In 2010 I made mention of the Collingwood vs. St. Kilda game, way back on page 18 of the Stats Observations thread, in which I published a list of all teams who have finished with the same total of goals and behinds at the end of each quarter.

Awfully sorry. I'll properly do my homework before posting again

It's hard to believe results like that now.
There was a Richmond-Port game in (I think) 2007 with a 1/4 scoreline of 9.3(57) to 7.4(46). Great attacking football with both teams hitting the scoreboard at will.

Yet a couple of years ago West Coast beat Hawthorn 51-46.

Weird thing are scores.

Yes, AFL and Cricket are two sports that can see a huge disparity in scores from match to match. If you compare it with Basketball, Ice Hockey and Soccer (where the scores are relatively similar each match), it does make you think what a strange Sport AFL can be at times.

Another case in point, there could be a country game where the scores are say 537 to 3 in one game and in another game, 137-136.

I saw on AFL Tables that in the '80's, Carlton lead Richmond at 3/4 Time 30-8 and win 43-27 and North beating Collingwood 72-18.
