Considering he's 2 years older, I'd have expected him to.

Lever played this season as a 21 year old, Weitering will play the entire 2019 season as a 21 year old.

Lever played brilliantly as a loose man/3rd tall this year but has struggled when forced to play accountable footy (e.g. against Charlie Curnow).

Weitering is moving poorly at the moment due to injury, is taking the 2nd best forward and holding his own defensively as a 19 year old.

We already know that Weitering is extremely damaging when allowed to play the loose man/3rd tall role, circumstances didn't allow that this year.

The positive is that Weitering will come back next year as a more well-rounded and fitter hybrid offensive defenseman.

They are one draft year apart and Lever was coming off a year off with a knee recon.
Weitering got 3 possesions yesterday. I dont think Jake has ever played that bad.

Jake is 1.7 years older and when healthy was playing as a loose 3rd tall.
Nobody is discounting his brilliance, he probably won't be on your list next year anyway.

Weitering will be fine, playing injured and simultaneously playing a lockdown key defensive post at a reasonable level.

He's 19, not 21.

In recent weeks posters on your own board have castigated Weitering, even calling him soft.

Why's that ?

They would be the garden variety supporters who love to enter the fray from nowhere when the team is struggling.

Weitering isn't soft. His intensity is certainly lacking at the moment, however.

He's down on confidence and learning to play through mental and physical adversity.
