Figured this thread was due a bump with Jake getting the call up to debut round 1. Really impressive effort after the chaotic nature of his draft years and super excited to see how he goes this weekend.
We are starting to get winners at pick 36 again.
I feel like the ship is turning.
Or we are relying on pick 36 to debut in Rd 1, we are buggered.

That explains it, seems like they had a batch of blank team sheets with 14 already printed on them. Smart move selecting 14 as your number out of the blocks. If his name was David he'd be a guaranteed 200 game player.

2nd half was promising yeah.
Whether that was Port falling off a cliff, quite probably. Soligo, Taylor and especially Berry were very good
Thought game 2 for this kid was fantastic against a quality side. Not big numbers but you can see why the club rates him. Did some very clever and clean things with ball in hand and is tough. If he's fit enough leave him in.
Can absolutely see why the club took him where we did in the draft last year. In addition to your comments, seems to have a massive engine as well.
Reckon he’s jumped above Sholl in the pecking order. Definitely want to see (at least) one of Soligo and Cook in the team for the rest of the year.
I like this kid. Has a good mix of toughness and neat skills. Can now see why him and Rachele had contracts extended early this year.

Which we need more of.
Another one I would add to the list to get games into asap as looks to gave a good future.
A good decision maker and a tough player. A natural footballer. Wait till he joins up with another good user of the ball Taylor. High hopes for Parnell another terrific user of the ball

I can see why the club was excited to get Soligo. What a second game. The composure, skill and decision making he demonstrated was awesome for a kid against the top team. Add his tackling into it. What a future he promises.

Need to keep playing at tip level
Need to look at getting Pedlar and Cook back into the side as well
The club need to bite the bullet and get games into Soligo, Pedlar, Cook Rachele, Berry, RT and Hately all at the se time

He is so impressive, runs hard both ways, tackles, makes good decisions, kicks well, reads the play.

Super impressive he puts most of our senior players to shame and most of our other draftees.
2 pieces of play showed the difference between him and McHenry. McHenry on one wing despite having time, turns it over kicking to 2 Gold Coast players to one Crow.
On the other wing, faced in the same situation and under more pressure he nails his kick to the Crows player despite being outnumbered 2-1.
Start giving him some midfield minutes.

Its amazing what happens when you expose kids - some sink and some swim. Soligo so far looks a real find and I think we might also be saying the same thing about Parnell come the end of the year once he learns the ropes of AFL level defending (and lets call a spade a spade, Rankine would be a tough customer to face and we were lucky he had an off day in front of goal)
I said a week or 2 ago, that Jakes hard running, 2 way work, and clean takes could make him out new Sloane
What worries me is what if he follows the same 2nd & 3rd year decline all our draftees seem to have.
