Hey Chief

We are running player threads over on the Eagles board and was just looking to do a bit of an update to a few of the thread titles. With Nicoski's retirement for instance I tried to edit the title of his thread

and got the following error
A server error occurred, please try again later.

We used to be able to do it before, and FiveStrings tried to do it as well and also got an error.

Hi Guys,
I've just had my work pc re-imaged and now the dropdown menus that appear when you hover the cursor over a link, aren't working. I'm on chrome and javascript is enabled. It works fine on IE, but i hate IE. Any ideas? There are also no enabled extensions..

I would wipe your Chrome browser cache and cookies as a starting point then let me know if it still isn't working by sending:

Operating system/version
Browser and version

What's the deal with alerts? I thought my threads were inactive, only to realize I'm not receiving alerts to new posts, despite being heavily active in the thread. This happens for days, so its not as if its just a few extra posts. Sometimes I like to keep on top of threads.

Or is there a better way to do this?

You could try what I do.

- turn alerts off except for someone quoting/tagging/liking you

- bookmark your watched threads page in your toolbar

That way you have a one-click button to use your watched threads page as your home page - no scrolling or drop down menus required - and you can instantly see when people have replied to your threads without receiving an alert every 2 minutes.

I've done that since the start, easily the best way to go about things if you post in a lot of separate threads. The only issue is those old matchday threads or other inactive threads that just sit on the page. The old BF used to automatically get rid of any threads inactive for 15 days or more I think... it's a bit tedious to go and "unwatch" the old ones now.

Yeah I tend to just let them sit there down the bottom and check the first half of the page for current threads.

Chief any chance of a setting that makes watched threads disappear after a certain timeframe since the last post?

I am getting an error trying to upload a gif as my avatar. Error is

I have never had any issues in the past. Also it didn't matter how small the gif was it stretched to fit. Now it doesn't and shows in the top left corner. Help appreciated.

Some features were switched off when we had the high traffic load on Essendon Execution Night.

I'm getting that error message almost every 2nd link I click on. That stupid Essendon press conference image is driving me nuts.

Yeah, I'm having a hard time accessing BF too. Not sure if the site's getting overloaded again lately or something, but I've been getting error messages, either page load errors or "unexpected database" errors, over and over again tonight when trying to access anything - and a bit earlier on in the day as well.

Also seems to be happening more when I'm logged on than it does when I read in 'visitor' mode.

Bit of a miracle that I was able to even get through to post this message...

Having the same problems as Wona re: error message with the Essendon press conference image. However I have not gotten a straight 404 error yet. I've also frequently gotten the error detailed by alfy.

In general, the site is slow to load, and loading up the Alerts sometimes causes an error message too.

Some issues still being worked out after the Essendon execution night? Or is it an issue down my end?

The more this site gets fixed, the more broken it becomes. can you fix the avatar change page? You upload your new avatar and it says "adjust to fit", but you can't because your old avatar is still there. It is only when you get out and then wait ten minutes and go back in that it appears and you can adjust it.

Lots of things to do with changing user accounts are slightly dodgy.

We're getting a copy of the database ready to test out on a new, more powerful hosting setup. We just don't want to do anything drastic in the middle of finals.

Not a BF but a general MS Word problem. You know when you highlight a line of text so that you can change font, font size, or move the text etc etc. Usually you only highlight the actual text but sometimes a small part of the blank page above is highlighted as well which makes it hard to move the text where you want. Any suggestions?

Im having a problem with the forum home page bigfooty.com/forum/

Ive been browsing on my ipad, my iphone and even tried the mrs ipad and once the page loads up it freezes. there is no pin wheel of death or anything, safari just freezes and I cannot even change tabs. I tap back to the ipad home screen and then reopen safari, which then has a blank white safari page, which then closes and sends me back to ipad home screen. Once I open safari again it opens the previous page I was on before heading to bigfooty.com/forum/.

If nobody else is getting this glitch I spose it could be my ipad and phone, but because it has been the same problem on three different devices I thought I would say something. Although the page bigfooty.com/forum/ is fine on my Mac desktop, just problematic on my mobile devices.

I think it could be the ads.
Also it could be a traffic issue that affects the server.

Had the same as mikeythemoocow today on the iPad. Only solution was to end the safari app on the iPad a open it again

Yep have same iPad problem

I can browse not logged in but problem arises as soon as I log in. It freezes safari completely and crashes it, also happens with google chrome for iPad.
