Will larger avatars ever return to being a BFSC-only feature?

I remember seeing people saying they changed their avatar but it didnt work, ive changed mine (RIP Blue and White Stripes) but it hasnt updated..was there a fix or does it just take a while to update?

The issues that I'm interested in but have not yet been solved are --

1. Different search options in the member list
2. Seeing who is online in the various forums
3. Seeing if a post has been edited & if so when it was done
4. Not all of the various membership badges have returned
5. The multi-quoting over several pages wont come back but it is a simple matter of cut & pasting, so no big deal.

Chief are you sure the Platinum posting privileges are working as planned? I usually open about 10 tabs or so from my subscribed threads page so I can read and reply quickly, one after the other.

I posted a reply and one thread and then clicked on my next tab, a completely different thread and posted a completely different reply. I hit Post Reply and I was told I had to wait another 5 seconds to perform this action. I was of the assumption that time limits were removed for Platinum subscribers.

Error thread that Broken talked about above, happened again in another thread.
The threads were not viewable in a PC browser, but were viewable in a smartphone browser and in tapatalk.
The threads could not be edited/moderated in a smartphone browser, but they could in tapatalk.
Thru tapatalk, I split off the bad posts from both threads and merged them into one thread below...

HOW IT HAPPENS...
The two times it has happened, the poster reporting the problem to me described the same process that lead to the error.
They tried tagging a user, either mistyping the bbcode part (like adding @ to the [user ] [/user ] method), and/or the server did not respond and they re-posted it several times AND THEN tried to delete doubled-up posts, which then lead to the thread error.

Bad bbcode is the problem. Went into tapatalk and edited them out, the thread become viewable again. Have since redistributed posts to existing threads. Test thread no longer exists

It's a search engine thing. Because they're more picture intensive than any other type of thread on the site, when they were allowed you would do a Google Image Search for 'BigFooty' and 9 out of every 10 results was a girl in swimwear/lingerie. Unsurprising that advertisers don't like that.

If you need to look at scantily clad women that badly, I think most of the unindexed private forums have girl threads. Or, you know - I hear internet pr0n is kind of becoming a thing.

Is there an issue with google not indexing threads under their new urls?

Related, is xenforum's search function pretty ordinary or what?

I wanted to find the 'If North Melbourne miss the finals with their soft draw is Brad Scott in serious trobule' thread created by Lance Uppercut. Search function tells me that Lance has only ever started one thread with 'trouble' in the title and it isn't about Brad Scott. I try other key words in the title but to no avail.

So I google search the thread title and sure enough, google knows exactly the thread I want, but links me through to the old url (showthread123456.php).

This isn't the only example of this sort of thing, either. As somebody who uses the search function a fair bit as part of my bigfooty use, I reckon I can say with some confidence that the old search function worked waaaaaaaaay better. What is wrong with xenforum's one, I don't know.

As part of the migration there are redirects in place so that vB-specific URLs direct to new ones - otherwise all vB links would have been broken.

Google's results are based on snapshots in their cache, as recorded by their spiders. At the moment their cache for a lot of pages is still the old vB addresses, so they will still go through the redirect. The results will be gradually updated as their cache gets renewed for each page, but that will happen over a period of months.

The search function is a bit limited compared to vB but the indexing of the database is a lot more reliable than vB (where you often had posts in random periods for random forums missing from search results). I am not sure where the back-indexing for XenForo search is up to atm but given the amount of content on BF I'd be surprised if it was finished. When all forums are fully indexed the results should be much more complete.
