Someone mentioned in the Jack Russell thread that Luke Boyd would be taking over.I would think that there's an inhouse option that the Hawks will take to replace Russell.
You guys might end up with two generational coaches back to back if he takes over from Clarko eventually. Really helped turn our midfield into a weapon this year, don’t think we would have won the flag minus Gaff and NN without him behind the wheel.
Sucks to lose him mid contract but as he said “Perth is a great place, but it became apparent that with the heavy travel commitments, and living in an isolated city away from our support network, was not conducive with a young family.”
That’s just the reality of life sometimes, almost every club would do the same to a player or coach who wanted to go back home.
Make no mistake. This is massive.
Keen to see now who we replace Jack with.
He will have a major impact on Worpel
Would love to see him at box hillIs it true Mitchell is coming back as the first playing Assistant Coach of the modern era and will take back his old number 5 ?
You have a great attitude and are very understanding. It’s very disappointing how nasty some of your supporters have been toward Mitchell on your page after the great service he’s given to the Eagles. Those supporters can learn a lot from you mate. You guys might end up with two generational coaches back to back if he takes over from Clarko eventually. Just a tad hypocritical with all the vitriol about Kelly failing to break his contract and return home to WA for family reasons and yet it’s not ok for Mitchell? He broke a 4 year contract - they have every right to feel aggrieved and even more so when you hear the accolades he received from players on what he bought to that team.
They're extremely hypocritical; they're footy fans from WA & it's kinda their thing!Just a tad hypocritical with all the vitriol about Kelly failing to break his contract and return home to WA for family reasons and yet it’s not ok for Mitchell?

Kelly could have elected to go to Dockers but preferred to keep playing for Geelong. Eagles could have paid overs like Pies did for Beams but chose not to.They're extremely hypocritical; they're footy fans from WA & it's kinda their thing!
In fairness though, Mitch defected to another Top 4 Team/Rival & it was pretty cool of them to let him go.
We let Brad Hill go in similar circumstances to those of Kelly/Geelong, but Geelong weren't interested - not sure there's much Kelly could've done about it.
Kelly is contracted to Geelong so he couldn't 'choose to go to Freo'; he could ask to be traded to Freo. He had no power to make it happen.Kelly could have elected to go to Dockers but preferred to keep playing for Geelong. Eagles could have paid overs like Pies did for Beams but chose not to.
Wow. I didn't realise geelong wanted, or that they were offered, that much. That's more than what we paid for Wingard, for a kid with one season under his belt. Albeit a good one. Surprised Geelong turned it down. Perhaps hoping he can help them content for a flag this year? Seems very short sighted, particularly given where their list is at.Kelly is contracted to Geelong so he couldn't 'choose to go to Freo'; he could ask to be traded to Freo. He had no power to make it happen.
Eagles offered 2x 2018 1st Round Picks + 2019 2nd Round Pick. They tried to offer MASSIVE overs, but again, Kelly is contracted to Geelong & Geelong wanted 3x 1st (2x 2018 + 2019 1st).
Not sure why you think Kelly had so much power. Geelong had all the power & in the end - albeit stupidly - they wielded it & kept their contracted player.
Pick 20 + 22 + 2019 2nd was offered.Wow. I didn't realise geelong wanted, or that they were offered, that much. That's more than what we paid for Wingard, for a kid with one season under his belt. Gotcha. I was thinking 2 picks below 18.Pick 20 + 22 + 2019 2nd was offered.
Now 20 + 22 aren't great as far as '1st Rounders' go, but they're good picks all the same.
2019 2nd is likely 30ish, so it was 20 + 22 + 30ish next year. A lot betyer than what they'll actually get for him next year.
See 2018 GF for evidence. If Sam's decision making was somehow learned rather than innate, then oh boy would I love to see him be able to pass that on some how.
