This guy has a contract coz he's a nice guy. That's it. Bring back jye Bolton. If jye tweeted as much as shae he'd be at the club

Nope I reckon he got the contract because we lost Leroy and we need another big tall just in case injuries strike.

Unfortunately for Bolton he just has too much competition for his spot in our team. We did the right thing by his career in delisting him earlier, and hopefully Watters or Neeld picks him up.

Probably Watters as I don't rate Bolton's disposal and he would add to the Saints problems in that area. At Melbourne I think he could really find a niche and improve their team, something I'm not that keen on happening.

Somone will deff pick up bolton... really disappointed we didnt keep him, all though can see why he wasnt kept. But seriouslly Cribbin over Bolton? tad wierd

IMO Shae's kept to bolster Collingwoo's fans in the US.

Hypothetically, no doubt if Shae keeps improving, and he gets to the point where he can crack the AFL side but only has 1 year left in him, it would still be massive for the club over in the US. Would put a massive stamp on the country about Collingwood.

Hmm interesting idea, i guess 5-10 thousand US supporters would be TINY for the country's popuatlion, but quiet helpful for us... depends if were gonna market him oversea's.

I would certainly check out American sport on if an Aussie had made the big time for the first time ever

Great news, the rumours of him getting de listed were true. Buckley informed him he wouldn't be at the club next season before the copeland. Shae was devastated, and i have it on very good word that recently Alaistair Clarkson called up Shae and said the Hawks would rookie him and he would be third in line as ruckman, funnily enough when Buckley heard this he called up Shae and welcomed him back. May correlate with losing leon him being offered a contract, but great news for Shae, he was devastated when he was told he wouldn't be required.

I doubt the Hawks saying they would take Shae would make us just Re-Sign him.

I would not be suprised we had that spot for Dick but he turned it down and then we gave that spot to Shae

I adore Shae....that aside; I doubt Bucks, Hines, etc...would keep anyonre just because AC approached them???

Yes, something else must have changed their minds on Shae??
Maybe Shae's constant tweets & texts (to Bucks/Hine), coupled with truckloads of optimism.
He wore them down.....ok ok....we'll give you another contract! Plse stop texting us!
Anyway, I am very happy for him...could be the 'Rudy' (Notre Dame footballer), who persisted & persisted until they gave him a game (the only game he played for them - they made a movie about it).

TfT said it best in the other Shae thread:

If we lose either Jolly or Wood for an extended period then its going to be a huge ask on Ceglar and Witts who are youngsters to play the second ruck role. Ideally these players should not play more than 2-3 senior games in 2012.

The one thing Shae has going for him is an extra year in the system and 6-7 years extra physical development. Personally I'd have delisted him and gone for another experienced player as a back-up, but he is there for insurance to protect our up and comers from being exposed too early to senior football.

He is also insurance in the forward line which we desperately need. He went ok up there in the NAB cup I recall.

The fact he doesn't cost us a list spot means there was very little to lose by retaining him anyway.

Yeah, when the list managers are looking at dropping players they now factor in their TPH (Tweets Per Hour) stat, I'm sure.

Maybe it wasn't the only reason he was resigned, but the facts are he was told he would not be required before the copeland, he was shattered. Then there was a U-Turn very late before list lodgement, Alaistair Clarkson had approached him, then the following day Buckley called him back and said he is welcome back.

Could be a massive coincidence, but i know someone very close to Shae, and those are along the lines of what transpired. Perhaps leon walking, opened a door, who knows.
