What’s with their pronunciation of ’rascal’?
Is that a Victorian thing?

Yep.

No soft ah ( almost r sound) pronunciation there and in Tassie.

I was at the club during the days of Jack. Pre Choco. Jack was tough on Dew. It was Choco who saw the talent and pushed his case. When Dew made that kick in that eliminated us from the final I our first year Jack was ropeable. I think both Jack and Choco are people who have that opinion based Favouritism for players. Perhaps Dew was influenced by both of them as far as the nature vs nurture argument...

I remember us playing Freo in 2022, and thinking that Brodie was playing a lot better than I expected him to. It irritated me during the game. His numbers that year stack up well. Better than anything we’ve seen from Drew.

That’s why I’m not as down on us taking a punt on him as others are.
Getting Brodie & Wehr reminds me of when Richmond traded in two bog-ordinary mids in Prestia & Caddy. Even though they were by no means A-graders themselves, they improved Richmond’s midfield structurally and allowed Dusty & Cotchin to become much more effective and dangerous.

We talking about the same Dion Prestia that Richmond traded pick 6 for and won a best and fairest in a premiership year in 2019?? Bog-ordinary seems harsh

Choco had a real love/hate relationship with Stewy. I can remember a game in the west played at the WACA, a sneaky feeling it was Freo. It was a tight game and we won with Stewy doing some excellent plays that helped us over the line. Choco let the players celebrate the win by themselves and only congratulated them as they left the ground, with him on the other side of the pickets . Most of the players got a hand shake but Stewy got that little extra - a hug and a pat on the backside and real appreciative eye contact.
On the hate side he was always on Stwey’s back about his weight. There were always rumours about Stewy being shipped off to the “fat farm”.
Eventually Choco and Stewey drifted apart and Stewy ‘retired’ from the game and the rest is history - Stewy returning to Alberton as a coach for season 2026. He really is a celebrated man now.
Miracles do happen!

What a player. Watching this makes me think why don't we use Farrell around goal more often. It's cool having a booming kick coming out of defence, but it could be such a weapon up front.

We didn't use Farrell in that role because booming long kicks from defence were not part of the Hinkley game plan. Hinkley had us using half a dozen kicks and hand balls to move ball from the defensive 50 to a wing. I once counted 12 possessions to move the ball from the goal square to the wing and the ball went from one flank to the other numerous times. Hopefully Josh will change the way we play.

That was particularly the game plan we practiced through last pre-season and implimented for the 2025 season. I'm just an ordinary supporter who hasn't played or coached at AFL level but I knew it was brainless and doomed to failure. I made my opinions known here after watching it being trained last pre-season. Teams that could bring even average pressure could break it down and exploit it with long quick ball movement. I only hope that this "strategy" exits with the departure of Kenny and that Carr and Dew et al want nothing to do with it.

Saw this on the RHS of Youtube page I was watching yesterday and had to look at it. A bloody good reminder of how talented, skilled and smart of a footballer Stuie was. A footballer first, not athlete.

And that left boot!!!!! Just his finals goals and some great bits of play in finals for Port.

I hope he improves Farrell's kicking, Farrell leans back too often and kicks the ball too high and probably misses kicking it 10m further and being an even bigger weapon.
