Familiar to both the elite level and the GIANTS, Hicks returns to AFLW following a year away from the game. After spending the past season playing and coaching with Macquarie University, Hicks is refreshed and ready to give football a second chance.

“New head coach Cam Bernasconi flagged the idea of Jodie coming back onto the list but with the idea of her playing as a defender. After trialling it in our winter series games against the Swans, we decided it was the right fit for Jodie and the club. Could be and if you look at the selections it seems Cam is looking to move away from the grunt playing model under McConnell and add some speed to the team which we have lacked since we first entered the comp.
