Nathan Broad: Calf, Test

“Broady will be a test this week if he gets through training tomorrow, we'll make a decision then whether or not we want to play him or if we want to continue working with him to continue his fitness,” Serpell said.

Sam Cumming: Shoulder, Test

“Sam's been progressing quite well,” Serpell said.

“He's been undergoing full-contact training for the last couple of weeks now. We'll get through one more session, and then we'll make an assessment after that and then decide if we want him to get some game time at some level this weekend, so we can probably put him down as a test at this stage.”

Jasper Alger: MCL, 8 weeks

“We all saw Jasper go down in a contested situation, early in the second quarter. Unfortunately, he sustained a high-grade MCL injury,” Serpell said.

“We had to consult a surgeon on that, but thankfully, he's avoided surgery, but we're still expecting him to miss the next eight weeks.”

Harry Armstrong: Foot, 8 weeks

“People would have seen Harry Armstrong withdrawn from the game in the third quarter. That was more precautionary at the time, we just noticed that he was running a bit strangely, and we came back and investigated some soreness in his foot,” Serpell said.

“Unfortunately, the investigation showed that he's got some bone stress in his foot, and sadly, we expect him to be out for the next around about eight weeks.”

Rhyan Mansell: Foot, TBC

“Following his wrist surgery, Rhyan presented to the club with some foot soreness also. We investigated that, and we also detected some bone stress in his foot,” Serpell said.

“Unfortunately, it's a bit more progressed than where Harry Armstrong's is, and he's actually going to have to undergo surgery later this week and will be out for another three to four months.”

Taj Hotton: Hip, TBC

“As we reported last week, Taj had some scans, and we see things progressing quite well, as expected," Serpell said.

“He's back on the bike this week, lifting some weights. We expect him to do a little bit of deep-water running next week, and soon after, we'll do some more scans and see if we can start running him soon after that.”

Lalor had an issue before he was drafted.
Armstrongs hammy was a contact injury at training.
so because he had an issue before he was drafted - that means we should be ok with S*** conditioning?
Isnt the whole point to put them in an elite sporting environment and actually adress and fix their concerns, before making them worse ??

this is elite sport man - not the local footy club - get the boys to play and stay fit - hes literally being paid to do so.

Number of Players on injury lists.

GWS - 12
Richmond - 11
Sydney - 11
Bulldogs - 10
Brisbane, Essendon, Melbourne, Port, St Kilda - 9

The games too quick.

When you combine that with us having such a diverse group of ageing players and 1st/2nd year players.... Its no wonder we are at the top, bodies coming out of under 18's struggle to keep up to the high demands.

People gave Burge crap, then Meehan & now Serpell.

How about we direct the blame at the other fitness staff like Anthony Schache who has been at the club since 2000?
Physiotherapist is more the injury prevention & diagnoses sort of work anyway.

We’ve got Hopper protecting them in the middle 🤣

Perhaps!!!!! But NINE leg injuries at round 3 are too coincidental to not lump partial blame on the serpent. Let's not forget how many other players on the list are recovering from leg injuries also. How many are carrying niggles that can't afford to be rested due to 11 injuries. With a near full squad they might be able to freshen up. I mean Lefau should be eased into Max 80% gametime as a fwd coming back from a knee, not smashed in the ruck and shouldering too much to protect the kids.

It's supposed to. He's probably too anxious to release it and now his sphincter won't unclench as Louie Meehan warned him on his handover that the Bigfooty nuffies will come for him and give him an appropriate nickname like the Punt Rd slasher, then its only a matter of time before his only job offers are volunteering for a W program for free. I mean the serpent is quite fitting but give people time and he'll have a cracker of a moniker.
I'm most worried about the multiple bone stress injuries... that is clearly an overloading issue.
