Don't like short legs and long torso?I think Jagga Smith is going to be a massive bust, just like Tsatas a few years before.
How much endurance though? One thing is for sure, we will not be bullied in the years to come. Size and speed everywhere you look.
Seen Jy Simpkin?Don't like short legs and long torso?
M Reid has been dudded in that it's going to be really hard for him to get games at Freo. He's not breaking into their midfield at the HFF has Boltan and Walters to get past. I can easily see him asking for a trade after 2 years.I think we choose Allan over M.Reid for a few reasons
1. We have two very young attacking midfielders in Harley and Hewett and we're a good chance to add another front footed mid in Warner next year. Allan could provide the perfect foil to all 3 offering a more team first mindset alongside the manic pressure he brings. M.Reid is undoubtedly a more attacking minded midfielder who will probably start his career as a half forward.
2. Athletic profile: The modern game demands pace and power and Allan is arguably the most powerful athlete in the draft alongside Lalor. Allan should suit Mini's game plan of high octane football, focusing on creating turnovers and moving the ball quickly.
3. Go home factor: Allan will be an Eagle for life if we want him to be. M.Reid is no certainty to see out his 3 year deal with the dockers, especially if his body language after getting drafted is anything to go by. We can't afford to potentially lose Harley and then another top draft pick in consecutive years.
4: Growth: I'm not as clear on this, but i read that Allan played the majority of last year as a back pocket and only made the move to midfield this year. To move from defence to midfield in one year and make the u18 AA side is a great sign and hopefully means he's only started to scratch the surface of his potential. Hopefully our next Yeo or a J.Dawson type midfielder.
But for someone with that much agility I'd expect a few more weapons around the stoppages to create space for himself. A sidestep or a fend off, or baulk or speed burst, but he seems a bit vanilla. In his highlights packages he seems to do a heap of dinky kicks with his knee bent. Anyone know what distance he has in his kicks?
He’s got a great athletic profile and seems a really mature 18 year old. See a lot of Jordan Dawson in his highlights and style (just perhaps minus the elite kick that Jordan is).
